for me, it was my second shot on a par 4....i was about 130 yrds from the green, and there was a tree directly infront of me about 65 yrds away...naturaly i have to hit around it, but my natural shot is a fade so i only slighty aim to the left....but low and behold, that is the time my shot desides to go to the right in the first place....i hit the ball, off it goes, straight into the tree and bounces back, and lands (one bounce) right back at my feet....needless to say that i was the laugh of the foursome that day, till i won the entire par3 bets for the day on the 18th hole ( i know, not usual for the last to be a par3)

Played a couple of weeks ago and after my friend and I drove off on the 3rd par 5 we noticed a crow came down near his ball. The closer we got the closer it got to the ball and before we could get close enough to scare it it picked the ball up in its mouth and flew off with it!

Last year my friend and I were playing a round and his tee shot came to rest about 15 yards short of a couple dozen geese. He played his second shot with a hybrid club and hit a low line drive that caught one of the geese in the rib cage. There was a loud whack and the goose turned around and looked at us and didn't even make a sound. It was like he was wondering if that was the best shot we had. He just kept on eating the grass. If it had been a man, he would have been hurting for weeks if not dead. Tough little bird.

For me, it was playing golf in Australia with my Dad when I was a junior. My Dad, as was not uncommon, was off in the rough right of the fairway. There was a tee for another hole off to his right. He hit his shot, and then suddenly a golf ball struck him... right in the... how shall I say... well with this ball he now had a sleeve. Need I say more? Well, he doubled over in pain, and I began to run to the adjacent tee to tear a strip off them for hitting my Dad! Only my Dad managed to stop me... to explain that he had skulled his shot, and it hit the stake of a tree in front of him and ricocheted straight back at him!
Another story... not as funny but talk about Murphy's law... the one and only time I have EVER hit a ball into a tree and it stayed in the tree... was in my final qualifying round to become a PGA pro. In fact, if a player on another fairway had not seen what happened, I would never have found the ball! But sure enough, there it sat literally on the branch of this Christmas-tree-type-tree... like an ornament. I took an unplayable, made bogey, and qualified. But there is no accounting for what would have happened had I been forced to rush back to the tee, hurriedly play another, yada yada yada!

I have two that involved golf carts. While doing a tournament at Indian Hills C.C. in Murrietta, Ga. I was driving a topless cart and spray lining a lateral hazard. The water was on my left and I drove under some low hanging branches. The biggest cottonmouth I ever saw in my life dropped in the seat beside me. I couldn't bail out right or left so I drove the cart out and the watermoc gave me a reprieve, bid me farewell and crawled out. The other was Northridge C.C. in California. At the top of a hill near the clubhouse, I was driving my cart to a VERY RARE errant tee shot. A goose, one of those huge gray ones with the bright orange bill, attacked me in the cart. I jumped out and while the goose was still after me, the cart ran down the hill and into the deep end of the pool. And yes, though not with my bag, I finished the round. Bill H.

I have to tell you this one. I was out playing 18 with the wife and two new friends when I hit my tee shot a little low and to the right side of the fairway. The ball ended up about 10 feet off the side of the fairway and there was a 2 foot wide tree just to the left of my target line. Because of the tree limbs and the distance to the green(about 125 yards), I had to hit a low shot and try to run it up to the green. I decided to hit my 3 wood. I had about 2 feet of clearance between the target line and the tree. Well, sure enough, I pulled the ball left and it went straight at the tree. Being as I was trying to hit it low, the ball never came off the ground and ran right into and up the side of the tree and out of sight. My playing partner said it looked like a damn squirrel running up the tree. Looked more like a squirrel with a white ball up it's behind to me. We couldn't believe the ball ran right up the tree trunk and straight up into the air. It came down about 6 seconds later, about 15 feet closer to the hole, and on the other side of the tree. That was good for a few laughs over beers after the round. Might not live that one down for awhile.

My buddy was hitting his second shot into a short par four from about 160 yards. He was in the fairway and had a perfect lie. I was standing well to his left and about 40 yards in front of him. The fairway runs parallel to a highway with trees. Well he shanks his second shot into the trees and strikes a moving vehicle coming at him (bang), well he puts his head down because he is only about 30 yards from the vehicle. He's embarrassed and thinks his ball is lost and also thinks the car is going to stop. I look up and see the ball bouncing along side the suv and into the ditch about 60 yards behind his original spot but in line with some trees. He thinks the ball is gone and is ready to drop another ball to hit, well I stop him and point out where his ball finally came to rest. He didn't bother watching his horrid second shot and presumed it was gone. He did hear it hit the suv though. Well he had to punch his now third shot back into the fairway. It came to rest about a foot away from his original second shot divot. I couldn't believe it, nor could he. The suv never did stop.

My first tournament that I was golfing in last year was interesting. I wasn't hitting the ball worth a sh*t so on the next hole my brother decided to tee up my ball for me. He said "Why don't you try the new ball that I teed up for you, maybe it'll help." So I line up to the ball take a good whack at it and POOF!! The ball explodes and I am left in a white powder.

Trip; I don't care what your mother says, You are not a nice person, and remind me never to play golf with you. At least not without checking my bag before I leave the tee box. Good nick name you have, I can see where you could be "quite a TRIP". Just one more reason not to ride a cart!!!!
