Hey gang, I'm having my programmer work on some new functionality for the site. Primarily, this will give readers the capability to submit their own articles, upload images, etc. I really want to start supplementing the reviews and press releases with some good user generated content - instructional, tips, gear related, club making, travel - whatever. Then I can run contests (maybe a little more high end stuff) for article submissions too. Please reply to this post with your thoughts regarding this functionality and ideas you may have.

That sounds like a great idea Chris, I find it would be easier if we could
upload images (jpeg/video) would be much better then going to
youtube or another site.

I like the image upload idea. Would be great to have this feature in the equipment review sections so people can take a quick snapshot and upload an image of the product they're reviewing, especially for the non-OEM stuff.

I agree, I love the idea. I'm up for writing a few things..whether anyone likes them or not, well, that's another thing...

hahaha.. ok, great. Image upload capability is already in the plan, but I'm also liking the video idea. Maybe only a few folks would take advantage of it initially, but at least it would be there. Or, even the ability to link to YouTube videos.

So what all types of articles do you think would make sense for this site? In-depth reviews, instructional / tips, what else? (Where's Don at?)

Well, I was thinking about writing an article on the importance of course management, geared mainly for beginners though it would be applicable to all. I also think some articles that highlight some of the "don't do this..." type things that one shouldn't try to do depending on their skill level.

May not get read though, you know how us golfers are...we love a challenge whether we're capable of pulling it off or not!!!!

Just fyi, my guy Tim is hard at work on this and has some of the basics done. We are implementing a lot of SPAM controls too. I'm just hoping folks use it. The key to keeping this site fresh is going to be getting a lot of user generated content.

What do you guys think about course reviews? I know I've probably asked about that in the past, but do you think they have a place here? For instance you meet 4 buddies and have a great round at an exceptional course and you want to submit an article about it, maybe upload a few pics.. thoughts?

Also, what other types of articles do you see readers submitting besides more in-depth reviews, game tips, perhaps travel... I need to set up different "categories" in the database..

it get's darned right difficult to find what you are looking for. If we had the option of uploading
pictures of our favotite courses, and some beautiful fairways, I think it would be cool.
