I have a basic set(old) and is looking for a new driver.i understand tat the latest technology offers driver up to 460cc.some people say its too big and harder to find sweet spot.some say it would produce good results with enough practice.some say it is used by the pros and some say it is suitable for all levels.

i tried the new Callaway Big Bertha 454(454cc apparently) and the Callaway GBB2(380cc) and i found tat my shots are more consistent(to the centre) when i use the GBB2(380CC).

Comparing Callaway 454 vs japanese make s-yard & katana m3.i found that japanese make of 460cc head are more light and i am more comfortable with it.

Does it mean that if i were to get a 460cc head it would be better if i get a lighter one for easy handling?
are lighter clubs more desirable?
why do some people prefer heavier club heads?
for people with high club speed do they usually go for heavier or lighter cluc heads?
Does 460cc clubs achieve more distance than 380cc?or is 460cc simply too big?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
(i played golf for a few months only)

Thanks

Wow. Lot there. I'll try and answer a few of those questions, however, I really do believe that the bottom line with drivers is you've got to be comfortable with it. Regardless of whether it's 380cc or 460cc, the thing has to look right, feel right, and BE right for you. No use using something that just doesn't feel good to you. How are you supposed to make a confident swing? Ultimately, it's the swing that will determine how good the club really is. So, that said, get something that you LIKE, that you feel good about. The key thing is to make a good swing and hit it square. But, yes, lighter clubheads are more desireable for more speed. Bigger clubheads have a bigger hitting area or sweet spot - so mis-hits go further and straighter. There is SO much great technology out there. Find a clubhead you like, get the right shaft put in (see a clubfitter), and put a good confident swing on it everytime - then you'll love your results and will get rid of your confusion. Hope that helps a bit.
