Does any one out there have any data or experience with the new high loft drivers? I am looking to increase my carry distance with the driver. My swing speed is 105-107.

Last summer I switched from a 10* to a 12* driver and it made a world of difference. At 5'8" I'm not tall and have a fairly shallow swing plane. My best drives with a 10* or 10.5* drive would be about 200 yards of low carry with another 30 to 50 yards of roll. Switching to 12* made an immediate and dramatic difference. Now I get 250 yards of high carry and 25 to 35 yards of roll.

Thank you for your reply. I hit my 14 degree 3 wood as long or longer than my driver and I have been thinking about building a driver with more loft to see if it would help increase carry distance. It sure has helped you a lot. Do you know what your swing speed is? I fould a Titanium/Graphite composite driver head with 14 degrees of loft that sound interesting. There are other head available from 11.5 to 15 degrees that would help out depending on what swing speed golfers have to work with. As soon as the weather warms up enough to get some more practice on the driving range, I will go some where that has a golf simulator and see if I can find out what works best for my swing. Thanks again for your help and good luck with your new driver. Don.

Sorry Don, I don't know my swing speed. I hit a 6 iron 155 and a 3 iron 195, if that helps any. Another benefit of the higher lofted drivers is that they seem to be more forgiving mis-hits. My poorer swings don't seem to have nearly the same catastrophic results as my old 10* driver.

Thank you for your reply. I hit my 6 iron 175 so if you are getting 250 carry with your 12 degree driver, I can't wait to try one out soon. I'd be happy to get 250, but if I'm 20 yards longer with my 6 iron, I might be real impressed with the 12 degree driver also. If there is ever anything that I can help you with, let me know. Don

Can you tell me what driver you switched to and what shaft is in it? Thanks for your help. Don.

It is a Tommy Armour 845 Stripe; 350cc. The shaft is a UST Proforce 65 Gold in stiff flex with a stiff tip. Went to the range today and was driving between 255 and 275.
