For March 2009, there will be one $50 gift certificate given away to Golfsmith for one lucky winner who posts either a new equipment or course review during the month.

Sorry about the reduced prize value this month, but due to the lower site revenue, and the general lack of reviews being submitted overall (except for a few frequent flyers - thanks guys), we just can't justify spending more on contests. If we get any new gear in, we'll try and get manufacturers to sponsor, but for now this is our limit. As soon as things improve, we'll ratchet it up. Fingers crossed.

Sounds good Chris. Easy to understand with the economy being what it is. I just noticed the dow is down under 7000 today. Not looking good if the fools keep selling instead of buying.

At this point, for the individual investor, I don't see the reason to sell... just hold until it comes back..which it will...maybe the institutional investors have more to be worried about and have to sell, but I'm just gonna sit back and wait.

But I do understand the economic impact that has finally reached our forums here. So Chris, I think whatever you can offer is fine. In fact, an interesting note from one of my photo groups...they're doing contests and actually the individuals in the group have started to offer prizes for best photo and stuff. So there are always ingenious ways for us to still make this fun and rewarding, as I'm sure we all have some items around the place we would be happy to do without.

Why not do it by saying draw per month or when you get 20 entries (which ever is last)
that way you make sure you get enough reviews in
another idea (which I do in this country) is use a competition website (I use theprizefinder.com but its uk based so might be one in the US)

Hey Kev, you may be on to something. Perhaps a "roll-over" prize or something. Kind of like a Lottery that builds when no one wins. Hmmmm... this could be kind of fun...

I will stick with the $50 gift card for now, but let's develop this idea. Would be fun to have a big lottery pool. Would you guys be interested in pitching in, say, $5 per month or something to have some type of massive giveaway? I used to belong to a 50/20 club at work where each month, 50 guys pitched in $20 for 20 3 digit numbers and the daily lottery number drawing on the last day of the month was used to determine the $1000 winner..

We may have to convert golfgearreview.com to a non-profit organization to avoid any regulatory issues though, hahaha..

I would think Barry'O might want to tax it...
