Will Michelle Wie now go to the next level? - I can’t say that I’m a huge Michelle Wie fan.

Ok gang. This newest forum is going to be used to manage feedback for any in-depth or feature articles on GolfGearReview.com. We're going to start with the review I wrote of the GEL Putters here:

http://www.golfgearreview.com/article-display/2751.html

So give me your feedback. What did you like about the article, what didn't you like, and do you have any additional questions I can answer? What would you have liked to see more of in this review? Has anyone else out there used GEL's putters, does anyone know of Pro's that are using them?

Let's mix it up..

Could use a report on how you liked the putter on short putts, mid length putts, and long putts. Also how many putts did you make with the GEL compared to your normal putter.

On the green, I dropped 2 sets of 3 balls in close proximity to each other. For each scenario (different lengths, different lies) I would hit one set of three with one of the GEL putters and the other with one of the other putters in my bag. On the short putts, I really didn't notice a whole lot of difference between the GEL Mallets, the Fisher (which is sort of a cross between a blade and a mallet, right?), and the Ping blade. As the distances became greater, the rear oriented COG and increased MOI started to come into play and the mallet types started to really show how they can help facilitate a smooth follow through, effectively keeping the ball on the intended lie. Additionally the better weighting and the grooves in the GEL mallets, in my opinion, helped reduce pop and skid on contact across the face. The differences are subtle, but they are there when you hit enough balls that it's more than coincidence. Overall I was pretty impressed as I've really only ever owned a blade style putter. I've occasionally tried out buddies mallet style putters (e.g. Odyssey 2 Ball, etc.), but never played round after round with one. This really makes me think it's time for a switch actually.

Can't wait to get out on an actual course and try the Fisher Custom out for a whole round though.. soon... although I hear it's supposed to snow this week.. frown

Very thorough review, Chris. I like that you kept it pretty objective and factual.

Thanks Aimee. I think as I get more experience with these things and develop more knowledge I'll probably introduce more subjectivity, but it's a start. Still learning like everyone else I guess. Thanks for your feedback.
