Last year was my first full season (obviously, a high handicap). I have a new set, which is good – my last set was a set of Spalding Molitor “Oversize”, and a blade putter I like very much but leave short a lot on putts over 15 feet.
I got a good deal from the Hippo manufacturer and got a new set:
Driver: Hex TX (12º) regular flex Woods: Hex2 4 wood (17º), Hex2 6 wood (21º) Hybrids: Hex2 3 hybrid (17º), Hex2 4 hybrid (20º), Hex2 5 hybrid (23º), Nextt X Tetra 5 Hybrid – I call this my ‘Big 6’ (25º) Irons: Hex2 6 iron (closed back), Hex2 7 iron (closed back), Hex2 8 iron (cavity back), Hex2 9 iron (cavity back) Wedges: Hex2 PW, Wilson Tour TC2 SW, Custom Wedge System LW, Custom Wedge System XW Bag: Bag Boy Revolver – my favorite (Cart), Hippo Hex2 (Stand) Balls: TopFlite Gamer (practice), Maxfli C3, Ram Laser (practice), Pinnacle Gold Soft.
Last year I played Pinnacle Gold Soft only for most of the year, then slowly added Gamers/C3 for more spin (if the green was small), and use Lasers instead of Pinnacles when I get a good price.
On regular courses, I leave out the XW. On executive/par 3 courses, I leave out the driver.

Admiral, Welcome to the site. You have a great bag of stuff. It sounds like you found a game you really like. Congratulations on making it through your first full year. How often do you get to play? When you get a chance, tell us where you live and play this game. When you have things to share, have questions or just want to throw out some fun, I think you'll enjoy the people on this forum. Some have a great sense of humor, some are very knowledgeable, some really know about the golf swing, many are understanding, informative and just genuinely great people. And, there's a couple of us that have all these qualities. (this may be the one that gets me banned) Again, Welcome.

LOL. I was surprised it was a 6 wood too. The loft is 21 degrees, which may be higher than your average 5 wood, but I'm not sure.

Thanks guys, for the warm welcome! I appreciate it. I chipped a lot in the living room over the winter and since it's gotten warmer, I have been playing mostly par 3s around the office... better than sitting in traffic , right? If I hit balls five times, it's usually: Practice, play, practice, practice, play. My goal this year is to be more consistent and get my HI from 25 to 15 by the end of the year. I heard that the first jump in improvement is the biggest one so I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. I'm willing to put in the work, though. I have a question about golf etiquette. Which section should I ask that sort of question..?

This year am going to start playing with:
Driver = Titleist D2, 9.5 degree, stiff V2 76 gr. shaft. ........However, I just ordered a TM R9 TP, 9.5 degree, Stiff Fujikura Speeder 75 gr. shaft. So I'll use the one I like best, throw the other one in the trash. Unlike The Donald, I don't save drivers or other clubs when I replace them. Having them laying around clutters my mind. 3 Wood = Mizuno F-60, 15 degree, stiff S3 75 gr. shaft. 5 Wood = Mizuno F-60, 18 degree, stiff S3 75 gr. shaft. Hybrid = TM Burner Rescue, 19 degree, stiff V2 86 gr. shaft. Irons = Titleist Forged AP2, 3-PW, Project X 5.5 Precision Rifle shafts. ........Always used TT Dynamic Gold S300 shafts, but I want to see if these shafts work. Wedges = Cleveland 52 degree CG12, Titleist Vokey 56 & 60 degree Spin Milled, all have TT Dynamic Gold shafts. Have three 56 degree wedges, 8,10 or 12 degree bounce for different sand. Two 60 degree wedges, 4 or 8 degree bounce for soft or hard ground conditions. 8 degree bounce 60 wedge is also good in packed wet greenside traps. Putter = Titleist Cameron carbon steel Newport II, 33.5 inch. On slow greens use a Yes Dianna, 34.25 inch. Ball = Titleist Pro V1x, numbers 1 & 3. Grips = Golf Pride Duel Durometer Cord. Standard size with 3 wraps of tape. Hdcp. Index = 3.1

Well last weekend I played decent for not playing in about 2 years. Of course my game was only at about 60% but I felt good swinging the club. But this past weekend was not very fun at all. It's like I forgot how to swing the club, I was 0/9 for hitting the fairways. I should also mention that I was using my original Nike driver because the Taylor Made doesn't come in until Wednesday.
Only thing that is holding me back from playing is I am away at college and there aren't any courses around. Next Thursday I will be playing in a tournament here at my school, only $3 for 9 holes so hopefully I will be back in the swing of things. Ohh and I am from the Rochester, NY area.

I really hope to play 2-3 times a week during the summer and join back at the CC I used to belong to. It's nice because the course is about 1/2 mile away from my house. Currently going to school for Technology Management, and will be receiving my B.B.A. in May of 10'

Ohh man I picked up the complete Affinity golf set in......I think the end of 8th grade and I am now finishing my third year of college. The irons hit well for what they are, I have no complaints for what I payed. I've slowly been replacing the equipment that cam with the set such as the driver, wedges, and the putter. I might consider replacing the irons next year with something better, but we'll see when the time comes around.

Craz-e G2i or one of the 17 others sitting around. Current USGA HCP 4.5 2under, thanks for joining in. It appears you are a putter collector who addresses the ball from the south side of the tee. You have a great handicap index. Looks like you'll need to do the same as Scott and give me 2 or 3 a side if we ever get to play. I'm not familiar with Pennsylvania, so what part of the state are you in? This forum would indicate Pennsylvania has the largest golf population in the nation.

Driver Titleist 905R 10.5 YSL+6 Reg. Working just fine.
3w Titleist 904? something like that, same shaft as driver. Fine, now that I've learned to swing it (thanks to irons).
3-9i Titleist 695 MB, NS950 Reg. I love these. 2nd favorite in bag. Have helped my game along a lot in the month or so that I've had them.
56 deg Eidolon. Unheard of brand, but has this dual bounce style like Ron (my teacher) used to grind his wedges, and he approves. Tried some Vokeys, they felt great, but geez, I've already got an almost totally Titleist bag, which is so uncool.
putter TP Mills One. Number one favorite in bag. We are mated for life. Except I'm not lesbian, and she's definitely a sweet girl.
That's only 11! I took the 52 deg out because I couldn't do anything with it that I couldn't do with the 56. I like how Bill has different bounce wedges for course conditions. I will have to explore that.
Need to go shopping for at least a 5w and a hybrid. But I only go shopping if it's too rainy to go to the range or the course, and we've been having a drought till recently.
This is as good a place as any to make this off topic comment. I have realized recently, that part of why I like Titleist stuff is that I like the font used in the logo. If they ever change from that classic look, I'll be disappointed. I do love those irons, though...

Ummmm....in my bags other than standard stuff like golf balls, tees and such, I have:
sharpies (for marking my golf ball plus I record putts on my home course so I can refer back to how the break later), GPS (in case I get lost and need BEVERAGE, I can get back to the bar at the clubhouse), tape and band-aids, sun tan lotion, one replacement shoe string, insect bite stuff, and two Nite Glo golf balls that I plan to try this year once the sun goes down!

Ok, I REALLY like the Nickent hybrid. Didn't have to hit it that many times, but when I did, it felt good and hit good. Ask Chris how I was hitting the Callaway X460 driver (especially towards the end)

Hit balls on a grass range today, which is cool. Haven't hit a ball for over a year and, incredibly, was able to hit a whole bag of balls very clean and on target. That's what usually happens when I haven't played for a long period of time. I think it's because I don't have anything from yesterday to think about. I was stoked as I was immediately able to hit my new AP2 7 iron 100 yds. (my attempt at a bit of humor there)
The R9 is a tour model and set on neutral it sits dead square, which is where I'll leave it. It has a select 75 gram stiff Fujikura shaft and 9.5 degrees loft. My Titleist D2 has an aligned UST V2 stiff 76 gr. shaft and is also 9.5 degree loft. It also sits square. I hit the R9 and my Titleist D2 exactly the same. Same distance, same launch angle and same ball flight. They both have a great feel and they both have that great sound of power on contact. I normally hit driver with a fairly high launch and a straight flight, with no draw or fade, and as I said, I hit them exactly the same.
So, here it is.
As much as I like Titleist drivers, I am putting the R9 in my bag. The Titleist D2 is 460 cc and the Taylor Made R9 is 410 cc. I decided to hit some high, down wind, fades and some bore into the wind type draws. With the Titleist I had to work on execution as a 460 cc head, with the big hitting area, wants to hit the ball straight. Especially when you hit it on the screws. The R9, with the slightly smaller head and hitting area, made it almost effortless to make these shots. I have absolutely no problem seeing why so many guys on tour want this driver. It blows the ball a long way down range and, when needed, it allows movement of the ball like the old '49 - '52 Tommy Armour persimmon drivers used to do.
Got so jacked today, I'm going to practice every AM for about a month and then...............I'm not going to take any strokes from Scott and Don.

Well, I'm new here, but I'm in the process of buying new clubs. By that, I mean saving up all my money from my job, which is funny cause I'm only 15. I don't play much, once a week if I'm lucky, but once my golf team starts that'll change to about 6 days a week.
Anyway, when I'm done buying/paying off my dad for my new clubs, this is what I'll have:
Driver: Nike SQ Sumo 2 Square Fairways: Adams Tight Lies #s 3 and 5 Hybrids: Adams a2OS #2, 3, and 4 Irons: Adams a2OS 5-9 Wedges: Adams Tom Watson 52, 56, and 60 degree wedges. Balls: Volvik Crystels/Nike One Tees:2 and 3/4 inch
I went to an Adams demo day, surprisingly none of their drivers I tried suited me. I might change my woods, and might not get the 2 Iron, but the long irons are one of my best parts, I can't explain it.

87vert, are these your first Vokeys? I haven't got any, but I've been tempted.
yup. was going between the vokey and the x-tour wedges. Got a good deal on ebay on the vokey so that made the decision.

Just curious what everyone thinks of the switch and if I made a wise choice with the Mizuno's. Thanks. Sox, Where have you been? Congratulations on the addition of your new daughter. What is her name? By switching to the Mizuno MP60's, you have shown yourself to be a man of unquestionable taste, blameless judgement and faultless reserve. Great set of irons, especially for a person who likes the feel of blades but wants a little "boost" thrown in. Nice to see you're still around.

Balls- Titleist NXT Pro, Precept Laddie X, & Nike Powersoft, right now I'm loving the Precept, but its a love hate relationship.

Grand Island is 5 mins North of Buffalo City Line, and I can see the Falls from my back porch. As far as playing time it all depends on the winter, everyones heard horror stories about Buffalo winters, yeah we get alot of snow but the concentration of it falls in Jan and Feb 3rd week of March its just warm enough to get out there if the courses allow it. For instance this year there was 2 weeks in Feb where the weather was so abnormal it hit in the 70's for a couple weeks so we got out and played as much as possible, But Generally I play from the first week in April until around Halloween. What I like about the area is there are alot of nice courses, weather it be within a hour drive, up in Ontario Canada or in the Rochester area
Sadly No Cleveland Bag ATM, actually the Bag is the next upgrade, playing with an old Bagboy bag but its time for an upgrade...any suggestions. I'm really happy with the overall quality of the Cleveland clubs, the driver I upgraded from an old Launcher 330, and just this weekend hit the new launcher and Monster Hybore so, stay tuned new weapons might be making their way into the bag..
