Last year was my first full season (obviously, a high handicap). I have a new set, which is good – my last set was a set of Spalding Molitor “Oversize”, and a blade putter I like very much but leave short a lot on putts over 15 feet.

I got a good deal from the Hippo manufacturer and got a new set:

Driver: Hex TX (12º) regular flex
Woods: Hex2 4 wood (17º), Hex2 6 wood (21º)
Hybrids: Hex2 3 hybrid (17º), Hex2 4 hybrid (20º), Hex2 5 hybrid (23º), Nextt X Tetra 5 Hybrid – I call this my ‘Big 6’ (25º)
Irons: Hex2 6 iron (closed back), Hex2 7 iron (closed back), Hex2 8 iron (cavity back), Hex2 9 iron (cavity back)
Wedges: Hex2 PW, Wilson Tour TC2 SW, Custom Wedge System LW, Custom Wedge System XW
Bag: Bag Boy Revolver – my favorite (Cart), Hippo Hex2 (Stand)
Balls: TopFlite Gamer (practice), Maxfli C3, Ram Laser (practice), Pinnacle Gold Soft.

Last year I played Pinnacle Gold Soft only for most of the year, then slowly added Gamers/C3 for more spin (if the green was small), and use Lasers instead of Pinnacles when I get a good price.

On regular courses, I leave out the XW. On executive/par 3 courses, I leave out the driver.

Admiral,
Welcome to the site. You have a great bag of stuff. It sounds like you found a game you really like. Congratulations on making it through your first full year.
How often do you get to play? When you get a chance, tell us where you live and play this game.
When you have things to share, have questions or just want to throw out some fun, I think you'll enjoy the people on this forum. Some have a great sense of humor, some are very knowledgeable, some really know about the golf swing, many are understanding, informative and just genuinely great people. And, there's a couple of us that have all these qualities. laugh (this may be the one that gets me banned)
Again, Welcome.

LOL. I was surprised it was a 6 wood too. The loft is 21 degrees, which may be higher than your average 5 wood, but I'm not sure.

Thanks guys, for the warm welcome! I appreciate it.

I chipped a lot in the living room over the winter and since it's gotten warmer, I have been playing mostly par 3s around the office... better than sitting in traffic , right?

If I hit balls five times, it's usually: Practice, play, practice, practice, play. My goal this year is to be more consistent and get my HI from 25eek to 15 by the end of the year. I heard that the first jump in improvement is the biggest one so I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. I'm willing to put in the work, though.

I have a question about golf etiquette. Which section should I ask that sort of question..?

Welcome to the site Admiral. Just for the record, your 6 wood has the same loft as my 7 wood. It should go quite well with that 17* 4 wood in your bag.

This year am going to start playing with:

Driver = Titleist D2, 9.5 degree, stiff V2 76 gr. shaft.
........However, I just ordered a TM R9 TP, 9.5 degree, Stiff Fujikura Speeder 75 gr. shaft. So I'll use the one I like best, throw the other one in the trash. Unlike The Donald, I don't save drivers or other clubs when I replace them. Having them laying around clutters my mind.
3 Wood = Mizuno F-60, 15 degree, stiff S3 75 gr. shaft.
5 Wood = Mizuno F-60, 18 degree, stiff S3 75 gr. shaft.
Hybrid = TM Burner Rescue, 19 degree, stiff V2 86 gr. shaft.
Irons = Titleist Forged AP2, 3-PW, Project X 5.5 Precision Rifle shafts.
........Always used TT Dynamic Gold S300 shafts, but I want to see if these shafts work.
Wedges = Cleveland 52 degree CG12, Titleist Vokey 56 & 60 degree Spin Milled, all have TT Dynamic Gold shafts. Have three 56 degree wedges, 8,10 or 12 degree bounce for different sand. Two 60 degree wedges, 4 or 8 degree bounce for soft or hard ground conditions. 8 degree bounce 60 wedge is also good in packed wet greenside traps.
Putter = Titleist Cameron carbon steel Newport II, 33.5 inch.
On slow greens use a Yes Dianna, 34.25 inch.
Ball = Titleist Pro V1x, numbers 1 & 3.
Grips = Golf Pride Duel Durometer Cord. Standard size with 3 wraps of tape.
Hdcp. Index = 3.1

I pick the 14 clubs that should work best for the course that's being played.

Depends on how I'm swinging that particular moment.

Jbuck, welcome to the forum.
Did the past two weekends get you back into the mood of playing more often?
When you get a chance, if you want, let us know where you live.
BTW, TM Rossa putters are nice............& you're using the right ball.

Well last weekend I played decent for not playing in about 2 years. Of course my game was only at about 60% but I felt good swinging the club. But this past weekend was not very fun at all. It's like I forgot how to swing the club, I was 0/9 for hitting the fairways. I should also mention that I was using my original Nike driver because the Taylor Made doesn't come in until Wednesday.

Only thing that is holding me back from playing is I am away at college and there aren't any courses around. Next Thursday I will be playing in a tournament here at my school, only $3 for 9 holes so hopefully I will be back in the swing of things. Ohh and I am from the Rochester, NY area.

Jimmy,
Thanks for the information. BTW, TM Tour Burners with Fuji shafts are great. One thing you have going for you, at least for right now, is the 0/9 for fairways. None of us are that consistant.
What is your major?

I really hope to play 2-3 times a week during the summer and join back at the CC I used to belong to. It's nice because the course is about 1/2 mile away from my house. Currently going to school for Technology Management, and will be receiving my B.B.A. in May of 10'

Ohh man I picked up the complete Affinity golf set in......I think the end of 8th grade and I am now finishing my third year of college. The irons hit well for what they are, I have no complaints for what I payed. I've slowly been replacing the equipment that cam with the set such as the driver, wedges, and the putter.
I might consider replacing the irons next year with something better, but we'll see when the time comes around.

OK, so I'll make this my first post on this forum.

I've post a few reviews on this site over the years but never really hung out on the forum, only checking in anonymously from time to time.

Here's my bag for 09:

Driver: Cleveland Launcher Comp stock stiff shaft with a small piece of lead tape to promote perfect draw.
3w: GBBII YS-6 stiff
7w: GBBII system 60 firm
4iw: Adams a2 NV stiff
5-pw: yonex C280 TT uni flex
SW's: Ping ISI-ni S(52*), S3(57*), L(61*)
Craz-e G2i or one of the 17 others sitting around.
IZZO left hand carry bag.
fj Couture shoes (Dress) Hi-Tec DT storm (casual)
Bridgestone e7+
Current USGA HCP 4.5(but will be going up soon because I posted a few spring rounds in the low 80's)

2under, thanks for joining in. It appears you are a putter collector who addresses the ball from the south side of the tee. You have a great handicap index. Looks like you'll need to do the same as Scott and give me 2 or 3 a side if we ever get to play.
I'm not familiar with Pennsylvania, so what part of the state are you in?
This forum would indicate Pennsylvania has the largest golf population in the nation.

Welcome 2Under...looks like you're starting to meet the gang.

And Bill, we are not spotting you strokes my friend. You can play 1 round a year and shoot 76. But we will let you play from the tips as we play from the forward tees, how's that?

Although I have the inclination, unforturnately I can no longer hit it far enough to play the back tees. I will, however, allow you to give me 2 a side instead of 3.

If I could play one round of this great game as well as you describe, it would be a marvelous experience that would last me a lifetime.

Changed out some Cleveland stuff last year and replaced with Titleist. Will start the year with:

Driver – Titleist 907D1 10.5 75g V2 stiff

FWs - Cleveland Steel Launchers 13 and 19 degree with Stiff 75g Fujikura gold

Hydrid – Cobra baffler pro DWS 20* with Fujikura Speeder 85g stiff

Irons - Calloway X 18 3-PW stiff steel shafted.

Wedges – Vokey oil can 52.08, SM56.04, SM60.04

Putter – Odyssey XG Sabertooth 33.5 inches

Ball - Titleist ProV1

Bag – Ogio tour

I know is is more than the allowed 14. But I canonly hit one at a time.

Anything can happen with this set. I still want to chage out the irons for some Pings Rapture or G10s

Driver Titleist 905R 10.5 YSL+6 Reg. Working just fine.

3w Titleist 904? something like that, same shaft as driver. Fine, now that I've learned to swing it (thanks to irons).

3-9i Titleist 695 MB, NS950 Reg. I love these. 2nd favorite in bag. Have helped my game along a lot in the month or so that I've had them.

56 deg Eidolon. Unheard of brand, but has this dual bounce style like Ron (my teacher) used to grind his wedges, and he approves. Tried some Vokeys, they felt great, but geez, I've already got an almost totally Titleist bag, which is so uncool.

putter TP Mills One. Number one favorite in bag. We are mated for life. Except I'm not lesbian, and she's definitely a sweet girl.

That's only 11! I took the 52 deg out because I couldn't do anything with it that I couldn't do with the 56. I like how Bill has different bounce wedges for course conditions. I will have to explore that.

Need to go shopping for at least a 5w and a hybrid. But I only go shopping if it's too rainy to go to the range or the course, and we've been having a drought till recently.

This is as good a place as any to make this off topic comment. I have realized recently, that part of why I like Titleist stuff is that I like the font used in the logo. If they ever change from that classic look, I'll be disappointed. I do love those irons, though...

laney you are such a girl!!!

I also put more Titleists in my bag. I still have my Titleist irons. Just hitting the cavity back Callies better right now.

Fred,
You're a walking ad.
Exactly how much is Nike paying you?

Bill,
I actually do like the stuff. Those Nike irons, deep, dark red cavity with just the "swoosh"in white; so elegant and understated. I keep thinking I need new irons (which I don't) but haven't seen anything that looks as good to me. Hang performance, looks are everything.. although I am virtually on a first name basis with the guys at Nike Golf since I acquired the very rare (even for them) actual CPR 3 and 4 irons, not the ugly red hybirds that were sold with the set, and the Ignite 3H hybird, also not available without buying the whole set.

Fred,

You are a walking advertisement for Nike. You should be the script writer for Tiger's commercials. cool

You even call the Nike logo by it's real name....."Swoosh" shocked

Fred, You're a rare beauty. smile

Mostly the same for me:

Cobra Speed Driver (10.5 degree), 3W and 5W.
Callaway X Tour irons
Ping CRAZ-E putter
Cleveland 52 & 64 degree wedges
TaylorMade 58 degree wedge
Hogan 4 Hybrid
Cobra 5 Hybrid

Now, In Tampa I stopped in to Play it Again Sports on my quest to find decent rental options. Google listed them as renting but I doubted they did...and they didn't. But while there, I did find a Hogan 3 Hybrid almost new with an Aldila 85Gram Stiff shaft for $19. So I bought it. Had to leave it in Tampa as I didn't want to pay $15 to bag check it, I'll just pick it up on my nest trip in a month but that was a heckuva deal. Those were $100 just about 2 years ago.

Also, they had a older set of Titleist 735CB irons for $120. I almost bought those to leave in Tampa for my next visit but didn't in the end. As I recall those were nice irons. The perimeter weighting didn't seem huge so I'm guessing they aren't ultra-forgiving but I remember good things about them.

Welcome to GGR, Janjuc! I've never heard of Bang. I suspected you are European, from some of your equipment list, and looked up Bang. Their website shows a European longdrive champ. Please tell us more about your driver and your golf story.

Now there's a literal answer. smile Does anyone else have an amusing assortment of non-club items in their bag?

I usually carry, so I don't pile up much stuff. Aside from some of the basics Kevin mentioned, I have sunglasses, a small bottle of eyedrops in case the contacts dry out, an extra top layer of clothing, some business cards.

Ummmm....in my bags other than standard stuff like golf balls, tees and such, I have:

sharpies (for marking my golf ball plus I record putts on my home course so I can refer back to how the break later), GPS (in case I get lost and need BEVERAGE, I can get back to the bar at the clubhouse), tape and band-aids, sun tan lotion, one replacement shoe string, insect bite stuff, and two Nite Glo golf balls that I plan to try this year once the sun goes down!

Pretty similar to what Scott and Laney have...I have a little zipper bag (it's actually a "fanny pack") that I put my wallet in that includes rewetting drops for the contact lenses; small mirror in case I need to put in drops; chap stick with SPF; Kleenex; bandaids; Tylenol; business cards. Golf tools stay in the bag, as does sunblock, insect repellent, windshirt (until summer), and my Tifosi sunglasses.

i was playing with a king cobra speed driver and king cobra irons. this year i went with the calloway diablo driver and the new calloway X22 irons. i have played a few rounds with the new clubs but the scores for rite now have dropped a little bit. i was averaging in the mid 40's per round and i am down to the high 30's per 9 holes.

Welcome BMS...I just bought the Diablo driver as well...it should be here in a few days. Sounds like you've been doing pretty well if you're in the upper 30's low 40s for 9 holes. Nice.

Where do you play, is there a 9 hole course near you (I have one near me that I haven't been too in a while), or do you just play 9 at an 18 hole course?

How do you like the X22s?

If you MUST have one of those little bags for your odds and ends, you can find them at most golf shops. They sell them just for you golfers that need such things. I know Lynn has one, it came with her golf bag in fact. Small zippered pouch, with a clip on it so it can be attached to her bag.

Yes, that's true, but I got one with a clip at Target for $5 instead of $25 that they charge when they call it a "golf" accessory.

Belated comments:

1. I am currently using ziplocs. Good thing is they're see-thru. Problem is they get holes and have to be replaced. A nuisance.

2. Is there anyone else here but Bill who has enough "class" to have "Givenchy" at the tip of their fingers for heckling purposes?

Congrats, Klun! Tell us about it soon.

Anybody heard of Krank? A range buddy just got their driver -- no grooves. Supposedly a bunch of good players at his dad's ritzy club are using it.

Scott, how is Diablo? Have you tried it yet, huh? Huh?

I've heard of Krank golf, and their red driver. Talked to them abuot doing a review on one of their drivers, had it all set up, but then they never could figure out what shaft they were going to use in their newest driver, and nothing ever came of it. That was 2 years ago.

Ok hit the range BUT only after I got my exercise going on a 2+ mile jog...so needless to say it affected me a little more than I expected. Anyway, the major difference in these drivers is the noise..the Callaway is SILENT compared to the Cobra. Distance wise it was similar to the Cobra but the neutral bias is clearly visible in the shot shape compared to the Cobra. Want to retest them on a day when I'm better prepared.

Scott, next time you get a chance, try hitting the new Cobra drivers. They are not loud at all. The sound just like all the other quite drivers on the market. Almost zero sound at impact. I think you'll be very surprised by the new S9-1 drivers. The Tour version is my favorite of the two. Much smaller footprint, and much taller club face.

Nice setup, BrownPenguin. In a less stiff version, I could be happy with it. (Got the same driver with R shaft.) Is that a 3w with the S300 or a hybrid? (Too lazy to look on the Titleist site.)

May we address you with a less formal name than BrownPenquin? DT, short for DirtyTux, perhaps?

Don, I hit the s9-1 while in Tampa a few weeks back. Nice driver but I didn't hit it as well as I did my older Cobra. Didn't notice a huge sound difference though, but I didn't have mine to compare it to.

Ok, I REALLY like the Nickent hybrid. Didn't have to hit it that many times, but when I did, it felt good and hit good. Ask Chris how I was hitting the Callaway X460 driver (especially towards the end) grin

Scott, I wonder why. The Cobra LD I have is very loud, and it drivers my playing partner nuts when I hit it. The new Cobra S9-1 I hit last week was really quite. My Cobra LD is almost as loud as the HiBore XL. Way loud.

OK............
Ten munutes ago, UPS delivered an R9 TP driver, 9.5 degree with a Fujikura 75 gr. TP S shaft, from the Taylor Made tour rep.
It looks good but it has more adjustments than the navigation on my car.
This may be enough motivation to hit some balls today. If It's better than my Titleist D2, it's a keeper. If it isn't, it goes in the trash can.

Hit balls on a grass range today, which is cool. Haven't hit a ball for over a year and, incredibly, was able to hit a whole bag of balls very clean and on target. That's what usually happens when I haven't played for a long period of time. I think it's because I don't have anything from yesterday to think about. I was stoked as I was immediately able to hit my new AP2 7 iron 100 yds. (my attempt at a bit of humor there)

The R9 is a tour model and set on neutral it sits dead square, which is where I'll leave it. It has a select 75 gram stiff Fujikura shaft and 9.5 degrees loft. My Titleist D2 has an aligned UST V2 stiff 76 gr. shaft and is also 9.5 degree loft. It also sits square. I hit the R9 and my Titleist D2 exactly the same. Same distance, same launch angle and same ball flight. They both have a great feel and they both have that great sound of power on contact.
I normally hit driver with a fairly high launch and a straight flight, with no draw or fade, and as I said, I hit them exactly the same.

So, here it is.

As much as I like Titleist drivers, I am putting the R9 in my bag. The Titleist D2 is 460 cc and the Taylor Made R9 is 410 cc. I decided to hit some high, down wind, fades and some bore into the wind type draws. With the Titleist I had to work on execution as a 460 cc head, with the big hitting area, wants to hit the ball straight. Especially when you hit it on the screws. The R9, with the slightly smaller head and hitting area, made it almost effortless to make these shots. I have absolutely no problem seeing why so many guys on tour want this driver. It blows the ball a long way down range and, when needed, it allows movement of the ball like the old '49 - '52 Tommy Armour persimmon drivers used to do.

Got so jacked today, I'm going to practice every AM for about a month and then...............I'm not going to take any strokes from Scott and Don.

Amiee, Don't believe a word of what Bill posted about the trash can. He's more likely to give it to his caddy if he doesn't like it more than his Titleist.

BUT JUST IN CASE. I'm going to be steaking out his trash can for the next few days hoping to find a nice prize.

Don, your Solara is front wheel drive. It has been brought to light that one more driver, added to your trunk, will raise the front end off the ground and, if Lynn is driving, you will be putting her in the embarrassing position of doing what you do.........................Spinning her wheels. laugh (that was a good one, huh?)

Laney, good call, I just clipped that and posted in the reviews section. Bill, thanks for your thoughts. I've got to give TM a shout and see if they'll send another one of these out! I'm due, but need to get a swing analysis done so I have a little better info for shaft selection.

Bill, I can throw your trash can driver in the back seat. One more back seat driver can't hurt. Or I can drive up there with my truck and pick up all your throw away clubs.

Well, I'm new here, but I'm in the process of buying new clubs. By that, I mean saving up all my money from my job, which is funny cause I'm only 15. I don't play much, once a week if I'm lucky, but once my golf team starts that'll change to about 6 days a week.

Anyway, when I'm done buying/paying off my dad for my new clubs, this is what I'll have:

Driver: Nike SQ Sumo 2 Square
Fairways: Adams Tight Lies #s 3 and 5
Hybrids: Adams a2OS #2, 3, and 4
Irons: Adams a2OS 5-9
Wedges: Adams Tom Watson 52, 56, and 60 degree wedges.
Balls: Volvik Crystels/Nike One
Tees:2 and 3/4 inch

I went to an Adams demo day, surprisingly none of their drivers I tried suited me. I might change my woods, and might not get the 2 Iron, but the long irons are one of my best parts, I can't explain it.

Edited by Jesh (05/28/09 06:06 PM)
Edit Reason: Forgot balls and tees.

King Cobra 3 W 15 degre VS Aldila 75 shaft
Calaway 3 Hyb

I'm having waay too much trouble deciding on what clubs to buy, the only thing I know for sure is that I want the A2OS irons. I need to check out a demo day and look for drivers.

And I need to find a good putter.

Jesh, all the putters are good putters. Go to your local golf shop and sign out two or three putters and head to the putting green and practice. usually only need a credit card to do that. See which one seems to setup the most comfortable for you and which one you feel the most comfortable with.

I did that with a Ping, TaylorMade and one other before I settled on the Ping. Actually made more putts with the TM but the looks of it just didn't fit with me. So I went Ping and have been happy ever since.

I'm looking for a good blade putter. I stroke much better with those. Plus, most of my putting is mental, if the putter looks good, I normally make putts.

Got my irons re-gripped today. Drop them off at Golf Galaxy last night and they had them ready this morning. Cool! I got Golf Pride Decade Multicompound grips which I had installed already on my driver. I like the look and feel of those.

Nice srushing. I hit my buddy's irons a while back and he has those Golf Pride Multicompound grips. They are nice. I hit Cleveland TA 5's stiff shaft irons right now, but looking to upgrade in the near future. They are about 6 or 7 years old. Just picked up a couple Vokey spin milled wedges, and hit a Taylormade Burner 10.5 Draw Driver. Odyssey 2 ball putter rounds out the set. Im in desperate need of a fairway wood and/or hybrid to replace my 3 iron, not sure if I want both or just one.

I have hit quite a few irons lately and think I've narrowed it down to the Ping G10's or the Callaway X-20's. Nothing special about either, I just seem to hit them both well, and they both feel good. Any thoughts regarding either clubs, or any other irons?

Foot,

The X-20's didn't seem to get rave reviews which I think is why they went back to the X-tour model when they made the X-22s. But if you hit them well and like them, great. I know nothing about the Ping Irons.

FL-couple of years ago when I was demo'ing irons I wound up narrowing it down to Cally X-18 or Ping i5. I've hit the Ping G10 and i10 and the new X-22 and they feel very similar to each other, I don't think you can go wrong, they are both solid choices. The one benefit of Ping is a greater degree of adjustability in lie angle if you get fitted.

The main dislikes of the X-20/22 were the Uniflex steel shafts. I don't understand how one person who uses a A-flex and another person with a S-flex can use the same Uniflex shaft on these irons.

I tried out the new X-22 (6i and 8i) in both Uniflex steel shaft and Project X 5.5/6.0/6.5 shafts. For me, the 5.5 was the best feeling shaft. My friend did the same, and he liked the 6.5. Mind you that I play with R-flex, and friend plays with S-flex clubs.

My point is that you need to try out the clubs at a range, or if possible, at the course with your current ball for a few holes. See which club fits you better. Then get fitted for those clubs.

DocT. I ve never read or heard and good reposts on those Uniflex shafts. They just don't have very good feel or performance. I had one set of irons with them, and didn't care much for the set. I've played R flex ,and I've played XS flex in my irons. and I'd say any of these shafts worked better than the Unifex set. I"ve got the Rifle Project X Flighted 5.0 shafts in one set of irons, and they are an excellent set of clubs.

yup. was going between the vokey and the x-tour wedges. Got a good deal on ebay on the vokey so that made the decision.

Laney; I just got in a new Vokey Oil Can finish 56/10 spin milled wedge. Won it for filling out some golf surveys over the past few years. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, as I've got enough wedges already. I like the look of the Oil Can finish, for what ever that's worth.

Hey everyone... I haven't been on to post in quite some time. Been reading some of the discussion just haven't added anything in recently.

Just wanted to post here, I'm changing my bag around. I'm taking out my Titleist 690mb blades and putting in a set of Mizuno MP-60's. I wanted something still very traditional but that would provide me with a bit more forgiveness than the butter knifes i'm currently using. I really hit my blades "good" by most standards, however a recent addition to our family (a beautiful now 4 mo old baby girl) is going to severely limit my playing time for the forseeable future.

Thought it best if I found something a tad more forgiving so that when I do get to play I will have a bit more enjoyment. Just curious what everyone thinks of the switch and if I made a wise choice with the Mizuno's.

Thanks.

Sox,
Where have you been? Congratulations on the addition of your new daughter. What is her name?
By switching to the Mizuno MP60's, you have shown yourself to be a man of unquestionable taste, blameless judgement and faultless reserve. smile
Great set of irons, especially for a person who likes the feel of blades but wants a little "boost" thrown in. cool
Nice to see you're still around.

I've changed my bag, even though I haven't been playing for months.

I've replaced my driver with the Callaway FT-IQ after hitting it at a golf show back in Feb and loving it. Finally got around to getting it, along with the 2 fw (5w and 7w) for $1 (50 cents each). This is basically my first Father's Day gift. smile

Bill & Doc thanks for the replies.

Baby's name is Violet, she was born the end of Jan so life has been quite hectic since then. Trying to still get out once a week at the moment but it's a battle some weeks to find a couple free hours.

Playing in a 9 hole league tonight, will be my first "round" with the mizuno's so i'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes later on.

So far so good w/ the mizuno's. First round with them last night. Found i have a tendency to miss a little left with them if i miss, but my swing felt real good last night so i hit a lot of good feeling quality shots with them.

Won't go into too much detail, 6 greens in reg, could have easily been all 9 if i would have played a little "smarter" but my league dictates playing riskier so a couple times i took unnecessary chances.

Ok, I have officially placed a new driver in the bag. The winner is the x-Speed Pro Series Cobra driver. This thing is super nice, quiet (compared to my older Cobra) and as long, and able to be worked left or right pretty easily. Very nice addition to the bag. Thanks Bill!

Hi rvick! I got curious, and here is what I found on your city's website:
"Grand Island is halfway between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. 55% of the population of the U.S. lives within 500 miles of Grand Island, making us a perfectly located Northeast hub. 62% of the Canadian population is within 500 miles as well."

Sounds like a pretty cool place to live, coming from a cranky urban dweller. How many months of the year do you play golf?

Grand Island is 5 mins North of Buffalo City Line, and I can see the Falls from my back porch. As far as playing time it all depends on the winter, everyones heard horror stories about Buffalo winters, yeah we get alot of snow but the concentration of it falls in Jan and Feb 3rd week of March its just warm enough to get out there if the courses allow it. For instance this year there was 2 weeks in Feb where the weather was so abnormal it hit in the 70's for a couple weeks so we got out and played as much as possible, But Generally I play from the first week in April until around Halloween. What I like about the area is there are alot of nice courses, weather it be within a hour drive, up in Ontario Canada or in the Rochester area

Sadly No Cleveland Bag ATM, actually the Bag is the next upgrade, playing with an old Bagboy bag but its time for an upgrade...any suggestions. I'm really happy with the overall quality of the Cleveland clubs, the driver I upgraded from an old Launcher 330, and just this weekend hit the new launcher and Monster Hybore so, stay tuned new weapons might be making their way into the bag..

Rob, it sounds like a dreamy place to live. My daughter spent a few years in grad school in Toronto, so I've visited the general area. I'm hoping you get sucked into this group (in a pleasurable way, of course), and we can get a GGR outing near you sometime. We've got a big contingent pretty close to you, and Southwest flies to Buffalo.

I finally have decided exactly what clubs I'm getting for my bag:

Driver is 2007 Burner 10.5 S Flex
3 Wood is a 12.5 Strong Adams InSight S Flex
5 Wood is a Mizuno F60 18 S Flex**
3H is a Tour Edge Exotics 21 S Flex**
4-GW/SW is Adams RPM Uniflex** I hit them, the shafts are just like Stiffs
60degree Adams Watson wedge
Nike Ignite Model 5 Putter
All of this in a Taylormade Taylite Bag

Any of the ** means I haven't gotten them yet, but I'll have 'em soon.

Toyed around with having my 3I back in my bag. Used it 3 or 4 times today when I needed to hit some low shots under tree branches. The lowest iron I had been carrying was a 6I due to having hybrids for the 4/5 irons. But the 6i even delofted and played back in my stance still gets to high.

Anyway, may pull the 4H out or the 5W out and give the 3I another shot.
