Mike, nice article. I think many people are misunderstanding what looks like "easy" golf - as you mention, there is so much better physical conditioning of the players and technology allows them to maximize their skills...What we need are golf courses that are blind tee shot s-curves! I'd enjoy watching someone have to really think about shot placement down the whole fairway.

I honestly believe that with rare exceptions, with the amount of talent and array of weaponry they have at their disposal, today's players will find a way to make par or better at just about any golf course.
You always have the feeling that, going into a major, somebody is going to go low. Many times that's Tiger, but just look back and it turns out that way a lot.
They deserve a lot of credit for what they can do, but also have to give credit to modern technology.
And I very much like the blind tee shot s-curve thing!

I like to see a player make a particularly difficult shot but I also have to admire how easy the players in the US Open make it seem. We don't even want to talk about how many stokes it would take me to hit some of those holes.
