Which means you're probably starting your backswing with your hands and arms instead of your left shoulder. If you started with a shoulder turn, the arms would flow, on the right path, in one fluid motion.
If you start your take away with your hands and/or arms, and your elbow is pointed toward the target, your take away will go inside.

Maybe what you've been doing, and become comfortable with, is an interesting experiment! shocked

No, I'm not starting with my hands and arms, I'm using my whole left side. I think it may be because I address the ball with feet closed, hips open, shoulders square -- as well as I can describe it, and I don't know/remember Ron's rationale for this. If I line up with everything square, it seems to work as you say. I'll fiddle with it again tonight.

Laney,
You address the ball with your feet closed, your hips open and your shoulders square?

Set up with your feet (toes), hips and shoulders square to the target line and see what happens.

Bill: I dont dislike the R9, I just don't like the rotating shaft idea. It's a very nice driver, but I don't think it's any better than the non adjustable drivers sold by TM. The biggest problem with the adjustable shaft is that a lot of golfers will be changing the driver every time they are having a bad day hitting the ball. Do that every time out, and they will never learn to hit the driver very well. I just think a GOOD golfer would be better off getting fit for a driver with the correct loft and club face angle by a good pro, and then learn how to hit the thing.

Bill,
Checked out this left elbow thing at night when i came home from work..it does indeed point to the target, guess I never noticed it before but since you brought it up I'm sure I'll be concious of it from now on. ##@$%!! another thing to think about before hitting the #$@#@@! ball! Thanks a lot.

Don, I agree with you the less fussing the better you'll become with whatever driver if the fit, loft and swing mechanics are decent.

But can't that same argument be said about the adjustable weight driver heads as well? I've never had one because I didn't want to think about should I change the weights and would this or that be better. But people do use those things and it won how many awards? Not that this means its worth a damn but still.

I don't know what happened that day. I've got hips and shoulder square. Feet vary a little. Ron and Five Lessons agree with me on the left elbow. You and Fred point it to the target. Maybe when I see you, or I get that video made...

Scott, I agree completely with you on the adjustable weight clubheads. They CAN be a great way to help a golfer hit the ball better, BUT, they can lead to changing things when it would be better to WORK on ones swing. This goes for the new adjustable shaft idea of the new R9 drivers. Same problems will be happening. I do like the adjustable weight woods, but for a different reason. I can build a driver or fairway wood to the length I want it, and then change out the screw weights to get the swing weight I want. Can't do that very easily with a head with no weights to change out. This can really come in handy if someone wants a shorter than normal driver and wants the swing weight the same as a 45 inch driver. Also handy with the newer light weight shafts that are coming standard in the newest drivers and woods. Adjustable weights are a great TOOL for the club builder, but not so good for the golfer that just have to play with things every time they miss the fairway a few times too many.
