Will Michelle Wie now go to the next level? - I can’t say that I’m a huge Michelle Wie fan.

She’s a gifted golfer and, even at 20 years old, has shown glimpses of the talent we’ve heard about for the last 10 years or more. So I do have t...

I have noticed over the last couple of years the putter grips that some of the pros have been using are extremely thick. Have any of you tried these and what is the supposed advantage of these

The advantage is that it's supposed to help you if you are too "wristy" with your putting motion.

Tom, I've actually just always used the same putter grip that came on the putter. Whatever it was it was fine. I've seen people trying new ones but honestly, I don't know what they "do" for you. Maybe Aimee's right, but I think your grip is the best place to start for most fixes.

TomS; I've heard they are supposed to help if you have a case of the YIPS. I will not try one, and it's because the big grip will not fit with the putter holder that is built into my golf bag. My putter goes into an outside club holder that is very easy to use. I really like having my putter on the outside of my bag, as it's much easier to get at and put away on every hole. It's also one more reason I really like my Great Divider bag.

I like the big grips. Don't have one, but might get one. I've tried my friend's. It makes it easier to have light grip pressure. Hands just seem to lay on the club easier with less squeezing. The only concern I've read about is the potential to lighten the swingweight, because they are heavier.

I'm going to get significantly bigger grips on the rest of my clubs, whenever I get around to it, for the same reason. I have pretty average sized female hands, and I like the next size up from men's regular, with a few extra wraps at the top.

Also, a friend whose hand was run over by a car as a pedestrian (really bad luck) has big grips and says they are used by people with arthritis, etc.

My husband regripped his driver, he didn't like the standard grip, and got one slightly oversized because he feels like he grips less tightly. I like grips with a soft feel for that same reason (and I also have men's standard size grips, which works better for the size of my hands).
