Tiger, so riddle me this....What does the winner get out of a car show? I just went to one here about 5 minutes from me, pretty much cars from the '30s to maybe early '70s (as I remember a 'Cuda there was was more late model than the mid 60s models.) Anyway, so I was talking to one guy who said he bought his show car about a year before and had won something in each show he was at. So the question: Do you win more than a trophy say like $$$ to help pay for the vehicles you buy? I can't believe you do especially given the shows around here are free to visit. I'm thinking you just love cars, you buy them because of that and you show them without ever having hopes of recouping the investment you make in the cars...Is that right? Sounds kinda like marriage. Heck, hardly a riddle there - well, except for the marriage part.:D. The shows I go to, we just do a wicked spit and shine and hope to get a "Best of Something" trophy. Sometimes there is some minor cash prize but it's not about the money but more about bragging rights among your buddies. Other than that, the shows are mainly a great way to get out with the family, drink some beer and munch on some dogs; That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

jan, where do you live?
This reminds me that Ron tells the story that Jimmy Demaret was a pro in Galveston for awhile. He told Ron that he learned a lot about how to hit a golf ball by hitting balls out of the sand on the beach. In Phil Mickelson's book there was a story about when he was a kid and his family would go to the beach for the summer he would take his clubs and while the other kids were building sand castles he was hitting flop shots over the dunes.

I have way too many hobbies, and it seems all of them are expensive.
Golf, Fishing, Woodworking, Cooking, Computers, and my latest is club making.
I re-gripped my first club ever the other night, and I already have the components to make two drivers sitting under the carport.
