Hey Hacker,
I have not had any experience with either set. Are you in the UK? I ask because when I did the search on the Skymax, I only found UK sellers that had the set. Honestly, in looking at the Skymax set, my best guess is this is comparable to the Nicklaus and other branded "all-in-one" sets and they'll be "ok" clubs but likely will not last you very long in your golf career. A good used driver will cost you more than this set of clubs which tells me something.
Now on the Acer irons, thats a little more interesting. NEver hit them or seen them but the Feb Golf Digest has a side bar article on how to buy a new set of clubs for under $1000 and the irons that they choose where the <$200 set upf Acer Xk's. (Here's the link

So at least GD gives them some positive review. Take that for what it's worth to you.
How often do you play? Are you looking for a beginner set of clubs, looking based on a budget, or what? I would recommend you consider getting a good used set of irons and filling in with a 3W to start then adding a used driver and 5w or hybrids as you have the budget to do so.
