I have been going to watch the LPGA tour in Pittsford, NY for the last 5 years. This is a great sport and brings in many fans here to Pittsford. The LPGA has been at Locust Hill for the last 33 years.
Just found out that a new contract has not been signed yet for 2010 between Locust Hill and the LPGA association. I cannot believe that this might be the last year for the tour in the area.
Wegmans (the major sponsor) has stated that the price for doing business with the LPGA is rising. Increased sanction fees, increased TV production costs, and of course increased purse winnings.
I hope the LPGA tour stops at Locust Hill next year. It's really like a kick-off of summer here.

Fan,
I've been to a number of events. Been lucky enough to make it to a Master's round the year Tiger had the "Nike Moment" where the ball sat on the lip of the cup before falling in.
Also been to a couple rounds at the US Open when it was in Pinehurst. Been to and worked what's now the Wyndham Championship.
Most fun was following Jack Nicklaus around the Masters for half a round. He could still hit it far.

Golffan, I've been to both PGA and LPGA tournements...most recently saw the LPGA back in May for the Sybase Classic. Amazing how close you can get to the players, you can't do that for any other sport...

Impressive, I haven't been to any major event. I envy you other golfers. I'd love to see Tiger Woods in person and to see the Nike moment would have been a dream come true. I hope that they bring the LPGA back to Locust Hill so you can continue to enjoy it each year.
I'm in PA, close to the NY border. I just checked and I'm about 2 hours from Locust Hill. It's surprising I've never made it there. Maybe if it's back this next year I can go! I've always wanted to come to Texas, although it seems like it's on the other side of the world. Someday I'll make it out of the Eastern side of the States.
sporty, you must go if you love golf. It's great to see them work up close. I'm hoping to volunteer next year. I asked one of the volunteers behind the ropes if they needed anyone at the tee box, and he seemed happy to give me his card.
