Hi all!
I have an older Ping MYDAY putter (I have had it maybe 20+ years)Not really looking to restore but would like a new shaft and grip. Just wondering if I should send it to Ping for these repairs? Or just have a local shop do it? Thanks for any tips or ideas.

I think the local shop can do that for you just fine. If you wanted to restore it I'd say send it to Ping. But just grips and shaft, the local guys can do that.

Good luck

Yea if it is just the shaft / grip have a local shop do it. Anything further Ping should be able to point you in the right direction.

First off, Welcome to the site Jack. I have to agree, any decent golf shop should be able to install a new shaft and grip for you without too much trouble. Could even get you a new Ping grip if you wanted one. I believe Golfsmith sells replacement OEM grips just for this.

Wouldn't hurt to ask at another golf shop. I have no idea why they can't do a Ping putter, but then I dont have any Ping putters to look at so I don't know. Might want to contact Ping direct and ask them why?

I can tell you that Ping is very reasonable for club reshafts and repairs, so it's worth looking in to. My husband sent his Ping irons back to have the lie angle changed (after a fitting with the local Ping rep) and I believe it was only $17 for the whole set. You just have to pay the shipping one way.
Go on Ping's web site and they have a repair form and you have to call them to get an authorization number/work order.

Thanks everyone! I think I will send it off to Ping-As I live in the sticks and not to much close. I will post on how it goes.
Thanks Jack

I'll chime in on this one.
When PING shafted that putter, they didn't use epoxy to set the shaft. It was a "Ballnamic" procedure that uses a small ball bearing that is pressed into the tip of the shaft, after the shaft has been put into the hosel cup of the My Day. The ball is just large enough to expand the tip of the shaft and anchor it in the putter, very securely. PING did this with all of their plumbers neck putters, for a very long time. On some of the older Ansers, you'll see on the shaft band, "Ballnamic" and that is what it is referring to, I believe.
I have heard mixed stories of individuals being able to get the ball to release and remove the shaft on their own, but I have only had that sort of luck one time, out of many, many tries. PING is the best place for this work, as they have a way of removing that ball bearing that is sort of a secret, I guess.
Just a little tidbit.
Thanks and I hope that the putter has long since been returned and is back to making all of the putts you throw at it.
