Will Michelle Wie now go to the next level? - I can’t say that I’m a huge Michelle Wie fan.

She’s a gifted golfer and, even at 20 years old, has shown glimpses of the talent we’ve heard about for the last 10 years or more. So I do have t...

I liked seeing the article I did not watch much of the first two days but I caught some of Saturday and most of Sunday. Mike was right on even though the European team had some lower ranked players by watching the competitive play you would not have known. There were some good battles out there. What really impressed me is a good deal of the approach shots made by both teams were steller. Not to mention there was some great putting. I have not seen Paula put like that in a long time. The fact that Asian players hold half of the top 25 spots in the rankings speaks to Mike's point about the competition. But I think if the US players played all out every week like they did this weekend (especially Wei) the rankings and the winners would be dominated by the US and not Asia. This week the US only has 6 players in the top 25.

I enjoyed watching for the intensity of the competition...in a sport where it's every man/woman for themselves, it's fun to see a bunch of people working to win for the team. Many people have noted that it was the first time Michelle Wie actually seemed to enjoy herself in competition...and how it can't be a coincidence with the team captains basically telling her parents to make themselves scarce. I did feel bad at the end for Juli Inkster, the senior member of the team and a captain's pick. She wanted to contribute but really didn't play well and basically said at the end that she wouldn't compete in the event in the future unless it was as captain. She looked beat up.

I also noticed Michelle Wie actually enjoying herself, and didn't see her parents in the background as usual. But, could her enjoyment been different should she have been losing? She had the best record of 3-0-1. I hope this experience carries over to the LPGA tournaments, and hope her parents realize the impact they have on her performance.

Interesting point I think that Dottie Pepper was right on when she saide that Wie's parents needed to take a step back. I thought it was uncalled for to say that Wie "Sadly is a child mismanaged" I have been following her for a while and I think that when her dad said "Whatever Michelle wants" was taken out of context. But those coments were over a year ago for the most part and I am not sure they are relevent now. The best thing for her was to use some of that 10 million she got from Nike and go to Stanford. It is good to see her comming into her own. The main thing to me is the US players do not play with the passion that we saw this last weekend on a regular basis and the Asian's do and that is why they have so many player on top. Just do a search on the woman players and see how many things they are involved in other than golf. We have some real tallent out there and I hope this taste of victory gives them something to build on. Anyway congrats to them for an excellent week.
