Will Michelle Wie now go to the next level? - I can’t say that I’m a huge Michelle Wie fan.

She’s a gifted golfer and, even at 20 years old, has shown glimpses of the talent we’ve heard about for the last 10 years or more. So I do have t...

So this week, playing in a 4 man captain's choice type thing, my own player starts sucking water through a bottle right during my backswing. Now at this point I'm the last guy to hit and it's a 150 yard approach shot and we have NOTHING close to the green. So here I am, swinging when I hear this SLURPPP!P!!!!!. needless to say the ball was a screamer right into the water before the green. So I look at my friend and I say "What the *&^* are you doing to me???" We all got a kick out of it to a point, as it was just a charity thing and we were no way in contention to win a thing (as is evident by me being the last hitter from 150 yards and we have nothing on the green!). So we laughed and he apologized but do you guys see this?

Maybe we had a thread on noise before I can't remember but I do my best to remain quiet while someone is swinging, but I guess some people just go on about their whatever...

Some golfers are a lot more effected by noise than others, and some make a lot out of a little noise. Me, I don't really care that much, but some guys I've played golf with DID make a stink about a little talking or some other noise. I remember one guy WELLING AT ME, because I took my glove off during his swing, and the movement was too much for him. I think that's a bit MUCH in my book. And I told him so in rather clear words I didn't see how me taking my glove off some 20 feet behind him was a problem.

Scott, You'll handle these little annoyances when you elevate your senses and are able to ignore the sound of one hand clapping.

It is, in fact, helping the weak, the hungry, the less fortunate, the unlucky, the stricken and and all the poor souls who have gone without, for so many rounds...........
It is giving them the elusive "Bird" they have so longed for!

Don and I are both guilty of talking too much at times, but as long as we're whispering neither of US are bothered by it.

I can understand if someone is bothered by a loud noise during their swing, someone talking TO them, or others talking loudly around them, but at the same time, I agree with Don that some people go overboard with it and expect PGA tour style silence which of course isn't realistic.

......but a loud slurping noise would've bothered me too!!

The BEST way to get used to noise during your swing, is to GO TO THE DRIVING RANGE AND HIT A LARGE BUCKET OF BALLS. Never been to a driveing range that wasn't a bit noisey. You get used to it at the range, so you SHOULD be able to get used to it on the course. Focus on the BALL, and you will not notice any small noise or movement around you during your swing.

Constant low level of conversation doesn't bother me much, it's definitely worse if it's really quiet and there is a sudden loud and disturbing noise.

I agree with you completely Aimee. A loud noise could effect anyone, but you get used to normal noise level if you go to the driving range on a regular basic. Once you get used to the noise, it will not bother you any more, and you'll play better for the practice time you spent at the range.
