The True Strike mat is excellent mat. Should last you for many many years, if not a life time.

The Fairway Pro is another good practice mat, but you also need a regular small size mat to stand on when hitting off the Fairway Pro mat. It doens' exactly what it claims to do, it gives you feedback on your ball striking quality. Hit the ball fat, and it comes up way short, Hit it solid, and it flys like it should.

Don, how does your weather, or handle the weather. I bought whatever mat at Golf Galaxy that I could stand on and hit (i do not recommend one that cant' fit you and the ball because then you are lower than the ball and have to adjust somehow) but I have to admit I leave it outside all the time and it's started to weather not so well. Plus there are some spots where I've hit the mat like a "fat" shot and it's started to tear. So I can't say mine was any specific brand but I wouldn't say it's held up great, it's held up ok...

Scott, I built a small wooden platform and have the TrueStrike mat on it in the back yard now. But I also have a water proof tarp over the whole platform so the mat isn't sitting out in the sun and rain all the time.

A couple of the local golf courses have recently installed new mats at their ranges, Very interesting mats, it that they are much softer or thicker than what I've seen in the past. You can in fact stick a wooden tee in these mats and hit the ball just like off of grass. Don't know the name of the mat or the brand, but they seem rather nice. And they appear to come in long rolls, just like carpet. No more 5x5 mats, but one long mat covering the entire slab of concrete where the old mats were.

Don't know if you can find one or not, but Ive seen a few courses install new mats, and I have to think they would sell off the old mats for a decent price. One guy I know got one free just by asking about the old mats, and they gave him one.
