Ha..good point Don. But I will say I'm very likely going to be posting a couple sets of irons, a driver and a fairway wood for sale on eBay, but I thought I'd post them here first in case anyone is interested.

Set's immediately for sale are:

Mizuno Pro II irons, used obviously. These are probably from the 2004 range. Great clubs, T-bar design to put more weight behind the sweet spot. These were "players" clubs, very workable, small head. Steel shafts, RIFLE 6.5 (yes, more Stiff-X-Stiff). it's a full set, I think it's 4I - PW.

Hogan Edge CFT Irons, used, from say 2005/2006 time frame. Nice game improvement iron. Not as easy to shape shots but much more forgiving. Hogan stiff shafts, also full set 3-pw. Standard loft but 2 degree upright lie angle.

Driver for sale: Like new (ok, hit at the range and a couple times one round) Callaway Diablo Driver. $299 new. Neutral face stiff graphite shaft, standard length. Includes club head cover

Fairway wood: Callaway Diablo 3W, neutral face, also like new, probably hit maybe once. includes head cover.

To be available soon: Callawy X-Tour Irons from like 2006'ish. Very nice irons. 3-PW, RIFLE 6.0 shafts, did I say very nice irons. I just bought a new set of irons and once I play them a couple times and am sure I'm ready to part with the X-Tours, I'll let folks know.

The woods were bought when I thought I needed to build a second set to leave in Tampa, but since I don't need to do that, there is no sense leaving these clubs in my basement and no one enjoying them. So they are for sale as well.

Anyway, if anyone has interest in any of these, PM me and we can chat. I probably will post all but the X-Tour irons on eBay Sunday otherwise.

Scott; I NEED to do the same thing. I've got 5 sets of irons now, and enough drivers to fill a golf bag with nothing but drivers, and maybe a few left over.

Man, I wish I had any money right now, I'd be all over those X Tours. Too bad that all my birthday money's going to homecoming dinner/tickets/pictures stuff like that.

Jesh, tey are nice irons. I'll probably have them for another month so if things change let me know. I'd be happier selling them to you than someone off eBay. And happy to ship them to you to try out if you like.

Scott, how do you come to have so many clubs & sets lying around?? and, can you say which of the sets actually helped your game improve by buying them? Just curious.

Sure...so to be honest, I was always cautious as to whether the new set would be better than the old set. So, I always kept my last set for awhile.

The mizuno's were the first set I ever bought and so there was that emotional attachment. As I bought new sets I just sort of forgot those were there and the "book" value of them kept going down so it was like why bother. The Hogans were bought after demoing them against the second set of Mizuno's I bought and the Hogans were FAR easier/more forgiving for me to play. So those did in fact improve my game. Maybe my swing just wasn't ready for the level of club the Mizuno was at the time. Anyway, I was planning to give those to a friend but he never took up the game.

Then came the Callaway's and again, yeah I think they were a better club, more workable, but my swing also continued to improve. But they were a better caliber of club. Or maybe I just thought that because the hogans new cost $400'ish where as the Callaway's used cost that. They were more of a players club but still forgiving too.

So another factor was what they'd sell for. I sll my unused woods really quick but selling 1 driver for $90 is fine, but when I sell an entire SET of irons for $90 that seems too low. So I usually kept the irons. Well, not now...time to sell them, cut my losses and put that money toward the new set of Mizunos.

That can be the problem selling used clubs. I looked up the trade in value for a set of irons I have, and the value of the used clubs was LESS then what the shafts alone would cost me to buy. The shafts would cost me $120 for a set of iron shafts, and the club trade-in value was less the $100 as I recall. Bottom line is I still have the set of irons and I use them for practice sessions.

Don, the club guy (fitter/whatever) at Golf Galaxy was talking to a customer when I walked up about putting new shafts in the used driver he just bought. The shafts would cost more than what he paid for the used driver. He even said they have had some discontinued clubs that sold for next to nothing that had $100+ shafts in them if you were just buying shafts. Strange. But I'll still sell mine, that way I'm not tempted to go back...

I picked up my R5 with an Aldila NV 65 from callawaygolfpreowned for 50dollars where the shaft alone sells for 60 from golf galaxy.

Usually the pga values dont really equal to resale values. Its kind of like Trade in value vs private party value when looking on Kelly Blue book for cars.

87; that's about what I found with the set of irons I lookd up the value of. Way low.

You do have to remember that those Aldila NV65 shafts that come with OEM drivers. ARE NOT the exact same shaft you'd get if you buy one from Golfsmith or any other sourse of Aldila shafts. They are usually somewhat lower quality so they can be sold to the OEM at the price the OEM wants to pay for them, and the OME gives the shaft maker different specs to build the shafts to. some of them are pretty close, but some are quite different compared to the original Aldila NV65 shafts.
