My car does it for me which is nice.

I actually can get better than the sticker on the highway. I think my car is rated for 17/24 and I have gotten over 30mpg highway on some trips. I also average about 18.9 around town.

Having it on the display show me goes a long to keep me from speeding also. I get alot better mileage at 70 than 75.

Now 87, do you think your computers measurements are close to accurate? Did you compare them to a manual calculation you did yourself? Just curious really as I've heard others say you can't rely on the computers figures. I don't know, I calculated mine once by hand and it was in line with the expected value so I stopped worrying. Wasn't like I was going to buy another car if I got a few below or anything. To me, I bought the car (not for mileage) but because I WANTED a Cadi CTS. So I checked once just for curiosity and then never looked again.

I think they are close enough, they can be a little off because speedometers (and odometers) are not 100% accurate especially at highway speeds. But while running using my gps to measure my mileage, I have gotten over 500miles to a 17gal tank.

500 divided by 17 is 29.41 miles per gallon. And I assume you din't run out of gas, so you didn't use all 17 gallons. That's very impressive mileage.

Scott, You mentioned that the Mustage is a Muscle car, so the mileage should pretty bad. Have you ever driven a 1972 Datsun 240Z sports car? It was able to compete head to head with the Corvettes and Muatages of it's time on the race tracks like Watkins Glen. I had one for 20 years. And on a trip to New Mexico and back I averaged 70 MPH, and for 400 miles each way. Top speed was around 80. The car had a 14 gal tank, and I make it coming back on one tank. When I filled the tank the next day it came out to 30 MPH on the nose. That's not bad for a car with over 150,000 mile on the engine, and one that can run with the Corvette on the race track. I hate to think what my mileage might have been if I drove those same 400 miles at 55 or 60 instead of an average of 70 MPH.
What my point is, is that a car can get good mileage and still have some pretty good performance at the same time. Unlike the new Ford Mustages. With the price of gas today, and no way of knowing if $4 gas is coming back next week, I don't plan on buying ANY car that gets poor mileage. I think I'll be looking at some Toyota and Honda product before I look at any more cars from Ford or GM.

Don, I don't disagree. My point was just that for those people that want THE car, gas mileage isn't a big deal. That's not to say there aren't good MPG performance cars. There are. But when a person only wants THAT car, then I don't think it matters as much. Especially something like this which most certainly won't be his primary day to day car. That'll be his Volvo.

yeah I almost bought a 240Z back in the day....but settled on something else. but would have been a fun car I'm sure.

Hey, there's a big difference between the car you have to buy for certain practical reasons and the car you WANT to buy.
If I could have a second car for fun, I assure you gas mileage wouldn't be on my mind...mmmm, Porsche....
