So I am newer to golf and bought what I consider a decent set of clubs. I know the spaldings are beginner clubs and not the best, but what about the cobra and nike pitching wedge, and the top flite driver? and can anyone tell me what this black driver is? The face is silver titanium and the top is painted gloss black and has indents all on the top like a golf ball and a gold arrow pointing at the center. It has no name or anything just says forged beta titanium and says 90 on it. Is the shaft good? It says grafalloy prolite. Thanks for the help.

Welcome, Edge.
The driver is maybe not the best head, it is probably one of those Chinese "knock offs" but the Graffaloy shaft is pretty good. There should be more info on that shaft, does it say Prolite 35 or Prolite HL? Is there a letter like R or S also? That will tell if it is a regular or stiff flex shaft. Most beginners use a regular flex shaft (it's based mostly on swing speed). Having a good shaft in your clubs is very important.
Cobra and Nike wedges...there should be more info on those as well to tell which model they are (that will help us know how old they are). Yes, the Spauldings are "starter" irons, but you'll do better with this hodge podge of clubs than those junky sets they sell at WalMart or such.
Get your game together, invest in lessons, then you can go spend some more money on new clubs down the road!

Yes, Welcome Edge. I echo what Aimee said, some of the clubs and shafts are decent-to-good quality so I expect they'll do fine for you just starting. Spend some money and time with a teacher getting lessons. I doubt you'll be hampered initially by any equipment until your swing starts to take shape, as long as the shafts in the irons and woods are not too stiff for you.

Welcome to the site Edge. I'm not a big fan of ANY of the full sets of clubs, as the quality is pretty poor. I always recommend buying a good set of irons to start with, and then building up a full set at one learns the game. You can buy a good set of irons for arould $200 if you know what to buy. Or you can get an excellent set of irons for around $250 if you buy the Acer XK irons from Hireko with Dynamic Gold shafts.

thanks for the replies. basically I bought a really nice ( but used ) nike stand bag, spalding executive irons, a nike pitching wedge, a cobra pitching wedge, a top flite driver 10.5, a no name 9.0 driver, a spalding putter, and 12 balls for $15. I knew the bag alone was worth atleast that so I grabbed it and can't wait to get some lessons in the spring and learn the game.

Why wait until spring for lessons. You can take lesson all year round in most parts of the world. Get a good start NOW, and be ready to play some decent golf come spring.
