Good post again, Mike. I always marvel at those large groups who go on golf trips...the coordination is like planning a military campaign. Tough job to be the "head coordinator", I can't imagine being able to keep all those people happy with all of the variables (hotel, golf, food, entertainment...). Guess it's why when you read accounts by those guys who have been planning their group's outings for several years they have it down to a science, plus they make sure all of the participants can "go with the flow"!

Great post Mike. Having coordinated a golf trip among my friends (I can still call most of them that...) for probably 12+ years, I can tell you it's fun but very challenging. Most of the people continue to get invites back but some times guys get to be too much of a pain or a distraction and they don't get the invite back.

A few other suggestions for the non captain's to add to your list:

- BE ON TIME. We almost missed a tee time because one group was passed out from too many libations. (Yes we were leaving them as they woke up)

- Don't over-indulge every night and be an A$$. And if you do, you DO NOT get your gambling money back because you can't see the ball.

- And don't be cheap and complain about having to tip the baggage guys who unload the bags. it's a couple bucks...come on!

By far the guys I've NOT invited back were people who didn't really come to play golf, they came to get drunk and party.

The other challenge is handicaps. Most of the time everyone's ok with whatever, but there's usually a couple people who don't think others handicaps should be as high as they are. But this is a challenge and set ground rules early for things like

- what tees will be used by the golfers
- what caps you may put on the # of strokes a person may get per hole (could someone get 3 strokes on a Par 3 because they're handicap so high they get 40 strokes / round)

And I will say, that my group has many times treated me to dinner sometime during the event. I've never asked and never expected but it has been a nice thank you. So little things like that help make the organizers trip fun. Because we usually pay the same as everyone else.
