Wow, beat but had a fun trip. Did not play "well". 3rd round shot well but didn't score well, 83, though that was the best round of the 3 for me. Swing change just hasn't settled in which led to inconsistent shots. Didn't choose pushover courses either, Long Bay, Thistle, and Crow Creek.
The one huge plus was cost. So every year I buy this MB Golf discount card for $40. Well, rack rates on all those courses were $85, $130, and $89. We paid $49, $50, $48. Same everything. So the cost savings made it affordable to play the nicer courses.
Overall great trip and I'll post a recap later this weekend once I've caught up on sleep!

OK, so Day 1, played Crow Creek in Sunset Beach, NC. Main reason was I was looking for a good, well maintained golf course that was a little more open off the tee since we were driving 4 hours and then hitting the course. Having played there before a few years back and really enjoying the round, I figured Crow Creek would be perfect. If not for a ton of rain the night before, it would have been. Cart-path only dampened our round a little but not much. Course was in very nice shape except for a few greens that were battling some crab grass. Didn't play well at all though. Was missing fairways and greens, as I was struggling to settle into my "new" swing. Shot 87.
Day 2 we move to more challenging courses like Thistle, a links style course. I always enjoy Thistle. It's a stiff challenge but if you're game is on and you choose the right tee box, you're fine. My game wasn't so choosing the right tee box was not my problem. Again missing with driver and short irons led to an 86. Too many penalty shots and missed opportunities. I seem to like really long Par 3's. In 2 trips to MB this year, I've birdied 3 Par 3's of over 210 yards. Again today, 18th hole, 220yard Par 3, I nail a 5W to 2ft and make the putt for my only birdie.
Day 3 was at the Nicklaus course, Long Bay in Longs, SC. Very nice course. Somehow found my driver swing again and was blistering tee shots all day. If I could have hit irons, I would have scored better. Did hit irons better today but pin placements were tough. Someone pissed off the green's keeper for sure. Shot 83 to finish up the trip.
Great outing, great courses, great fun (hit the casino boat one night and won!), and great friends. Can't wait for next time.
