Will Michelle Wie now go to the next level? - I can’t say that I’m a huge Michelle Wie fan.

She’s a gifted golfer and, even at 20 years old, has shown glimpses of the talent we’ve heard about for the last 10 years or more. So I do have t...

My wife and I are taking a Hawaiian cruise next year with a group. While my wife shops, I get to play golf a few times.

I'm looking for some recommendations for courses that won't break the bank. Preferably under $150. Our itinerary takes us to Honolulu, Kona, Kahului and Nawiliwili.

Thanks.

well pal, we were set to go to oahu the week after christmas, but it fell through.
that said, we are going to cancun anyway, and ill get the opportunity to play a nicklaus course and a von hagge course out there, so im a happy camper!!

this MIGHT be too far out of the way (but still only 20 mins from honolulu i believe), but the course i think you should shoot for is koolau.
its very unique as its an island course WITHOUT the ocean views.
if youre playing island courses, youll get enough ocean views.
this course is in the mountains at elevation. you should love it. it looks amazingly beautiful, and from the tips it has the distinction of being the toughest course in the country.
check it out.

Jake,

Some friends played KooLau (sp?) last month and brought back lots of pictures. It looks brutal. They are both good players and confirmed that it is at least as tough as the pics looked. Lots of elevation changes, forced carries, not a flat lie anywhere, long, wet and windy.

The group we're going to Hawaii with now doesn't know when or even if they'll play, so I'm not even taking my clubs. I'll throw my shoes in a bag and if we do play I'll just rent clubs.

I have played Ko'lau. On a trip from th Uk.

What a course...really, really tough! I made par on 18, but I had to hit a full fairway wood to get to the green.

Mind you, if you have played the west coast of Ireland on a windy day, it wasnt that hard!

I think that course has or had the highest course/slope rating in the world at one time..something off the charts...

Lucky you, both on the trip to Hawaii and the time to be able to golf while you're there. I've heard that the courses in Hawaii are some of the toughest in the world.

Ko Lau is a great course if you have a chance to play it you will really enjoy it. Ko Lau is a beautiful course built in the middle of a rain forest. If you play it the resort tee's are very playable but more than that and the course gets real long real fast. If you sign up for the specials on the web page you can get a good deal. Some other courses I like to play there are Coral Creek it is a great course on the beach for under 100 dollars and is a lot shorter course if you are not a long hitter. The other favorite is Luana Hills which is another rain forest course very challenging but not long. It is more of a shot makers course. I have not been to Hawaii in a few years but when I used to go there on business all three courses were under 100 if you made reservations using the specials on their web page. If you just show up expect to pay at least fifty dollars more.
Have fun.

Rex
