I met a co-worker at Golfsmith at lunch time to look at golf gear. She hasn't played in quite a few years and wants to take it up again. I persuaded her not to just buy stuff blindly, but check out what is available and actually pick it up to see what feels comfortable and fits her eye. It was a lot of fun, she liked the Cleveland Hibore ladies set (iron/hybrid) and ladies Callaway Big Bertha driver, Odyssey 2-ball putter. We tried on shoes (of course) and the FootJoy LoPro is extremely comfortable, light, and flexible. I'm going to help her find some stuff online if possible, or I told her to wait until Nov/Dec when everything goes on sale.
She did buy one glove and a box of Lady Precept balls since they were on sale. She called it incentive.

Sounds like fun.

Reminds me, I want to try some new irons. I can hit my friends' heavy steel X's as well as I can hit my light graphite A's. I can't get as much clubhead speed with them, but the ball travels just as far. So, I want to try some steel shafts that are in between. Gosh, I've actually been wanting to do this for at least a month or two, and haven't gotten around to it. I must be really busy to let such a shopping opportunity slip. Wish you could go with me, Aimee!

Laney, were are you're priorities???? Ha! The last couple weeks I've been visiting some golf stores more frequently, some because I was at the coast and they have these large superstores and seeing what they had. Prices are a few dollars better than in town but not quite enough incentive to buy anything much. I do need a second pair of shoes soon though, as I have a trip to the coast for 3 days of golf and I want to take an alternate pair of shoes. but I have some gift card that will work nicely for that. But did buy some golf balls and soft spikes from this store in town going out of business so I'm stocked up on basic "supplies". Otherwise set for now (sniff sniff) I suppose....

Laney, there are some light weight steel shafts I've seen so I do think that would help you build swing speed with the heavier head. By X' you mean Callaway X-20s? Nice looking club if that's it. I play the older X Tours which I really like.

Hey Scott,
How much are they selling the Pulsar Fast-twist Softspikes for? Out here it's $15 for a box of 16.

X as in extra stiff. Bart's irons are Mizuno MP-32, Dynamic Gold X, D3 swingweight. Of course, they are way too much club for me, but I can hit them pretty near as well as my own. Tried 'em one day when mine were feeling puny. Tendency to pull them. I think that's because they're so heavy I have to drag them around. The good thing is that the swing just sort of goes into place, I think that's what they call being able to feel the clubhead. I think I may need to move up to a shaft on the firm side of R. Lighter shaft, but heavier head, as you say, may give me better clubhead feel without weighting me down. Thanks for the ideas, Scott, and the shopping pressure.

DocT, those specific spikes were $11.99 there with 20% off but they got bought out. At Dick's here in town those sell for $15.99, much like you're place. This time I got the Blackwidow fast twist for $8/set.

As Scott mentioned, there are some good light weight steel shafts available that fit in between the weight of your graphite shafts and the 134 gram Dynamic Gold shafts that come on a lot of good iron sets. The DG lite is one example. I've heard of some really good deals on used sets of MP-30's on E'bay. Great set of clubs if you haven't tried them out. Easier to hit then the MP-32's if that tells you anything.
