So, I remember Wade's old thread about Golfer's Annonymous because playing golf so much was ruining his relationship...and I can relate a little bit to that with work. And this new technologic age has really made it so easy to be always connected and "online" that I can almost do my job from the golf course and people wouldn't know. For a good portion at least. And boy I have to really pace myself of I could see how it could get bad. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I have a very flexible job environment so I can sneak away here and there, though I do catch up on things later at home or answering emails on the blackberry, but this game can be so addictive that I sometimes have to fight the urge to "work from home" via the golf course and blackberry....

anyone else experience any of that?

Umm, no, the only way golf has affected my work is that I work less overtime, and sometimes sneak into this forum at lunch.

I do get messages from my grown and gone children saying, "Mother, call me if you ever get off the golf course this weekend."

I dated a really fine person for awhile. No details, to protect the innocent, but you can trust me that he was a jewel. He didn't play, and I found myself much more interested in getting in my weeknight range sessions or my weekend free-for-all lesson/practice/games than going out with him.

I neglect personal things like replacing my lost driver's license, making meals, buying more light bulbs, etc.

I really wish I could make more time for golf, but that's only an excuse obviously. I wish I had your problems, hahaha...

Not a problem for me either. Golf is my excuse to get outdoors after work to relax. Yes, golf is relaxing for me compared to my work.

I spend way too much time on the computer on golf sites.

Laney, Too bad you can't find another guy like the one you described, only one that loves golf as much as you do. It's really nice to have a partner to practice and play with. Good luck with this.

Scott, now that you mentioned Wade, any word from him at all?

Don, no, no word. I'm thinking about heading out that way and if I do, I was going to look him up and see about some golf with him and Maybe DocT. I wonder if he's still lurking on the site just not logging in and posting?????

Wade, you out there? Earth to Wade????

Wade may have decided to re-prioritize things...sometimes people realize it's all or nothing, sometimes another interest takes over...
But to the question of golf addiction...I'm with Scott in the "could work from golf course" camp with my Blackberry. However, I find that I'm too distracted doing that. The best time for me is late afternoon, say 3:00, since I only have to be "on the clock" for half of the round.
And I do have a couple of golf sites I have to check out every day.

Sounds good to me.

I remember leaving Wade a voice message on his phone (cell and home) months ago. I don't know what happened to him either.

Ok DocT. In the next few weeks maybe I'll PM you and we can start some dialouge about travel and see what works out. We can call Wade again and see if he wants to join us. Of course anyone else from the GGR would be welcome as well

Don's correct. If I'm coming out that way, it's all for golf. So about anywhere where the course are nice and reasonably priced is good. Unless I can find some reason for work to send me it would be pure pleasure trip. So we'll see. So does winter ever get in the way of golf out that way? Just helps to know if I need to make any plans before a certain point.

This is southern california. Golf is year round. Winter would be a good time to play now because this summer is really hot and humid.

As for the courses, Wade would know more of them in Los Angeles. I'm not in the Los Angeles area. I've only been to 1 course in my area.

If anyone else reading this and are in southern California area, let's get together for a fun round of golf.

Scott, If your flight has a stop in Denver, let me know and we can get together for either a meal or golf depending on your flights.
