Hey gang, I get contacted almost daily by some new golf manufacturer with the latest gadget or piece of equipment they'd like GGR to review and write about. As my time and availability are quite a challenge sometimes, are any of you interested (in addition to Don who has done many reviews), in being on the short list to be contacted to try out a new product and write about it? I started telling some of these manufacturers to log into the forums and ask around and that we would accept in-depth reviews for posting from forum members.
What are your thoughts on this?

Chris, I don't think it is a bad idea. I'd be cautious about the manufacturer always wanting a favorable review though. Also, what happens to the equipment once it has been reviewed?

I would be up for this - but would they have any issues with going out of the usa? Also I agree with Klun - what about sending it back etc

Thanks everyone.
1. Klun - Perhaps I would require that the equipment be free of charge, or at least, that complete return labels / postage / UPS labels, etc. be provided.
2. Aimee, noted. I'll put you on the list.
3. Doc, this should be voluntary. Now there would have to be *some* time constraint or they won't be interested, but I'm sure if it was reasonable, folks wouldn't have a problem with it. (60 days?)
4. Scott, I definitely agree there will have to be some guidelines. Like with anything, we can probably get started and create a working guideline for manufacturers. I'm sure we'll learn over time. We can include them on the contacts page on the site so they have an opportunity to review them before they even contact us about product reviews.
5. Kev, you're probably a special case in that you're "across the pond". If you're contacted, though, I would definitely sell that as a positive point because you bring an interesting perspective, and also additional exposure into the UK market if they were interested in perhaps linking to your review in some way for their customers over there. I would simply request that due to the challenges associated with shipping product, that they either let you keep it or provide a really easy way to return it.
Don - noted. I have pointed a few folks your way recently. Have you not heard from them? Email me directly and maybe we can revisit with them.
Overall, I just wanted to gauge interest. Let's start with one manufacturer first perhaps and then we can talk here in the forums about our experiences and what we need to change/modify. I think it would be cool if we really took this community to the next level by getting more people involved testing new equipment.
Maybe we could also combine everyone's thoughts into one longer in-depth review that compares and contrasts everyone's different opinions. Who knows. Definitely sounds interesting though.

I would agree with Scot and chris's last paragraph. It would make sense to have all of us review the item, as everybody here has different strengths and play on different courses. Means we can road test the equipment to show major weaknesses/strengths.

I read your post and from the perspective of a golf manufacturer, I would like to respond.
I have a golf product that I would gladly send to a limited number of interested reviewers at no cost. However, due to the nature of my product, it should be sent to golfers who could use the product in the manner it was intended. To elaborate on this, my product is a portable driving range and requires an open area to practice golf shots. Also, golfers should have a push cart to evaluate the distance yardage feature on the golf course. To see the golf product go to http://www.pdrgolf.com/pdr/index.html .
Please contact me if interested.

Mark,
I see your product, it looks interesting. I can see you challenge, yes, to really make use of the PDR, you need an open area where you could walk off 60, 100, 150 yards and place targets, etc. So finding folks that have that much room can be a challenge. I have a park nearby where I'd test something like this, plenty of room to mark off multiple distances. If your interested in having another tester, send me a message and I'd gladly try it out.
Good luck with it.
