I see the site is having one or two issues - even saw a php error this morning. I assume everything in the last few weeks has been lost (if so does that mean we can replay the ryder cup?) everything going ok?

Ok... here's what I know so far.. my web host emailed me Sunday and said that they were having a server failure. Apparently the whole box crashed and all sites on it were down, including my other site, MusicGearReview.com.
Because the hard drives failed (which may have explained some of the database issues we've been seeing as of late), the whole site had to be restored from backup.
I guess we are fortunate that the backup they applied was from September 1. Unfortunately on my music site, the back up went all the way back to mid-June.
I have a real issue with this host not backing up their servers regularly, which I will be diligently addressing with them.
I don't know what I'm going to do about drawing the contest winners this month though. You are correct that any reviews submitted since the last backup are gone and not recoverable.

shot in the dark thought
any chance of using google to find out what is missing?? I assume that their bots have crawled the site (and cached most things) - I know it will be a MAJOR pain - but at least it is doable
I hope you get a lot of free months host from them for the lack of backups - (hope your contract mentions back ups - if so - you can probably shoot them into next year!) - good luck with that one

Thanks Kev. Using google is not a bad idea. Let me look into that. Definitely would be able to use the cache to recreate some of the reviews and yes it would be a pain, but I do agree it's probably do-able. Just need to make the time at work here today, heh heh heh..
I better get something from them. Not only did I lose all of this content, but basically two days worth of advertising, etc. Although it's not much, it pays the bills and that's a bunch of crap if they don't offer something.

If you guys can respond with approximately when you submitted the review, and the product or course it was on, I can start looking them up as I have time.

Thanks everyone for checking. Hopefully we will have a good stretch without any problems. This has really been the first time in years we've had this type of problem, so I'm not ready to abandon the host yet, just want to make sure procedures are in place to address it for the future.
I would like to hear from Laney and Don as well before post-poning the contest, but I also think it's a good idea.

I hate to say this, especially since I posted 6 product reviews and 1 course review. But I think the best thing to do might be for forget about September winners, and just have everyone re-post their reviews. I'm not happy with the idea of having to submit all new reviews, but it might be the only way to find all of them. What do the rest of you think? Can we all live without a winner for last month, and just re-post all new reviews for October? I sure don't remember what days I posted my reviews, not even sure I can remember what every review was on. Well, maybe I can figure it out if I think about it, but that's a lot to ask of me at my age.

Hello to all, Definitely postpone or cancel so that reviews can be resubmitted. Perhaps two winners in October?

I think having two winners in October is only fair. So two winners for gear reviews and two winners for course reviews. Thanks everyone for weighing in. I really apologize for the inconvenience.

I would prefer it , if multiple people could win (means everybody has a chance)
