Mizuno Review: MX-950 Irons

Manufacturer: Mizuno Golf

Model: MX-950
Category: Irons

Additional Details: This review is only on the 8 iron. #5-#7 uses a hybrid design. Shaft is a Dynalite Gold Super Lite, which is a Grain Flow Forged 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel in regular flex. Face has a modified U-groove and HEMI COG design. Extreme wide sole design. The back has a solid power bar cavity back design. Loft for this 8-iron is 38 degrees.

Purchase: I tried a demo of this club at the Orange County Golf Show held at the Roger Dunn Golf store in Santa Ana, CA. As this is a demo club, I didn't pay anything. A set of #3-PW is around $900.

Pros: This club is really comfortable to hit with. Swinging this club is easy, and the ball really flies off the face with ease too. You don't have to swing very much to get the ball up into the air. I can't comment on distance because I was hitting this club into a net.

Cons: There really isn't anything I don't like about this club. It hits really well.

MX-950 Quality: The quality of this club is really good. This is the first Mizuno club I've tried out, and was really impressed.

Review & Rating Summary:
Looks like a winner for those high-handicap players. The design of the short irons really does help improve getting the ball up into the air.

Mizuno MX-950 Rating: 5

Game Description: I've been playing golf for a little over 2 years. My weakness is the driver. My current irons are the TaylorMade CGB Max steel in regular flex.

Mizuno MX-23 - Irons - As a blade player growing up, I'd forgotten the pure feel of a well-struck forged iron after twenty years of playing cast clubs. These are easier to get airborn and hit solidly than my Pings.

Mizuno MX-23 Stiff Steel Shafts - Irons - A fantastic club which I can only recomend to everyone. Demo it when you are looking for new irons, make sure you try the different shafts on offer. The best club you can buy without going for a bl
