TaylorMade Review: R7 Irons

Manufacturer: TaylorMade Golf

Details: These are the standard length, loft, and lie R7 with stiff graphite shafts.

Purchase: I bought these off ebay brand new for $500.00. I've been looking for new irons for close to 10 years and have tried a bunch but untill now haven't found any that worked better than the old Topflights I've been using.

Pros: I love how these feel when you hit 'em. Almost like forged clubs. Not a huge head but still pretty forgiving and they are accurate! I have struggled with my long irons for a few years now and one very important factor for me is that I can hit these long irons almost as easily as the short irons and just as accurately. Beautiful balance. In fact they are beautiful clubs to look at as well. Not a huge factor but kind of nice. Also these have very nice grips. No need to go out and regrip. Did I mention these are very accurate. These love to go straight but I can draw or fade them and knock downs, which I've never before been very good at, are easy.

Cons: Well even at 1/2 the list price these are expensive but so is everything else in golf these days.

R7 Quality: Taylormade will only enhance their already excellent reputation for quality with these clubs. They are gorgeous and the construction appears to be first rate.

Summary: Well, like I said earlier I have been searching for new irons for years and finally found the irons I have been searching for. I'm thrilled with these clubs. My problem now is that I no longer have anything to blame a bad shot on!

TaylorMade R7 Rating: 5

Game: I've been playing for 30 years and shoot low 80's - high 70's. My greatest strength has always been my iron play. My weaknesses have always been my driving and putting. Those have both improved thanks to my Ping G5 driver and My Dead Straight Golf Middleweight putter but those are different reviews. I play most often at Torrey Pines in San Diego, which if you live in San Diego has to be one of the best deals in all of golf.

Average Round: 80's
