TaylorMade Review: RAC HT Irons Irons

Manufacturer: TaylorMade Golf

Details:

Purchase: I got the clubs on sale at Dick's Sporting Goods for $499. That was a great deal for graphite shafts. In addition, I was custom fitted for free and the delivery time on the clubs was about two weeks - well worth the wait. I've searched all over the web and that's the best price I have found.

Pros: These clubs actually do what the manufacturer claims they can. They are light weight, which helps my swing speed and the heads are well designed and get the ball into the air quickly, with a slight draw - as advertised. I had the lie adjusted upward by 3 degrees to suit my particular swing. I have a tendency to push the ball right at times. These are the most forgiving clubs that I have ever played and I feel really confident on the course. I've only played a round, but I can see the improvement already. It's almost like Taylormade designed these clubs exclusively for me.

Cons: Besides the grips being a little smoother than I'm used to, these clubs are perfect. I just have to adjust my grip pressure slightly to compensate.

RAC HT Irons Quality: All the RAC technology really works and the clubs (though light weight) feel very solid and the heads are constructed very well, which you expect from a company like Taylormade. I've tried the Nike Slingshots NDS's and the MacGregor V Foils - While they all tout game improvement for the average golfer - They don't hit the mark like the TaylorMade RACS.

Summary: Trust me, the clubs are a little pricey, but they are well worth it and you'll probably get years of play out of these clubs. There is nothing like getting a set of clubs that suit your swing tendencies and are custom made. I've actually had to "club down" to compensate for the increased distance I am getting, per club - without having to swing harder. That equates to a more stable and consistent swing for me. Less effort, better shots - isn't that what we all want?

TaylorMade RAC HT Irons Rating: 5

Game: I'm a weekend hacker (10+ years of playing) who's handicap fluctuates like the stock market. However, I love the game and do try to improve. I've tried several off the rack clubs including clones.

Average Round: Right Around 100
