TaylorMade Review: RAC LT2's 3-PW stiff IronsManufacturer: TaylorMade Golf Pros: First of all, I've never seen a nickel plating so percise and dense in my whole experience of buying and selling clubs. These things are absolutly beautiful! I was a little concerned about the swing weight of these being D2 because the Callaway X-18's are also listed as D2 and I thought those were a little heavy for me personally. Unlike the Callaway's, there is nothing at all clunky looking about these clubs and they have a great center of gravity to them. The Callaway X-18's felt very one peice, kind of like swinging a lead pipe, and the faces felt real soft, Unlike the RAC's. The ball lauches off the face like a rocket. They also set up like a blade with just the slightest off-set, I was concerned with the reviews of these being for a 10 or lower handicap, players club. I'll agree with this being a players club, and you definatly need the right fundamentals to make these babies hum, but I'm a 17 handicap and the only thing I can see coming from these clubs is improvemnet. I look forward to my shot out of the fairway because my G.I.R.'s have been increasing. My Fairway's in regulation have been suffering due to some bad advice, and I quote: 'you need to use an R flex shaft'.
No mister local golf pro, what I needed was my grip adjusted properly, my stance corrected, and good tutoring on ballance and tempo. Basicly all my mechanics needed work, and I fixed them with the book 'Swing Like A Pro' from Ralph Mann. Now, I'm a cetified S flex shaft swinger, I get a lot more control with the stiffer flex shafts, and I don't miss left all the time. Anyway, after trying out Ping, Callaway, Titliest, Mizuno, Nike, Cleveland, Cobra, and Ben Hogans, I have to say that these clubs beat them out in both feel and performance. I think I finally found the clubs that'll help to lower my handicap. I mean, come on, we be's the weekend warrior's here, our goal is to get a lower handicap and a good feeling every weekend after playing a round (scoring a little cash from your friends isn't a bad thing either!). With the way techoligy is now-a-days, we can all get a good peice of the par / birdie / par pie thats out there. Stressing fundamentals and mechanics is the foundation to anything you put in your hands. I think Taylormade is definatly a leader in golf equipment tecnology and tradition. So few other companies can mix the two of these as well without leaning too far to one extreme. I finally found a thing that works and encourge you to try these clubs yourself. Know your fundamentals, definatly know what shaft flex you need, improper shaft choice is the #1 reason a lot of really good clubs get bad reviews. It's not the clubs, it's the shafts. Check out the book 'Swing Like A Pro' from Ralph Mann, you'll be glad you did. All in all these clubs get a perfect one word review from me ,.... AWESOME! Summary: I never would have thought to even look at these clubs. Turns out their going to not only save me a lot of money, but also my marriage. Time to get some expensive green fee's at some really cool golf resorts for the money I'm gonna make selling all my other clubs on E-bay!! |
