Titleist Review: 690 MB IronsManufacturer: Titleist Golf Pros: Played Ping ISI for at least 8 Years. Play to a 12 handicap. While your handicap maybe an indication of how well you might hit the 690's, be careful because I believe you should be a good ball striker to play these clubs. In other words, I feel I'm a good iron player but don't particularly have a good short game hence my 12 Handicap. With that said, the 690.MB is a special club. The look over the ball gives you a better alignment and its sleek topline is just perfect allowing you to focus on a ball with minimal offset. When you hit it Flush, it's an "Oh....Baby feeling!"
Your ball flight will or should be lower than a cast club and the 3 iron more difficult to land softly....unless your swing speed is 90 or higher. If not, perhaps a regular shaft would be the best selection for this club. I feel my accuracy is as good or better with the 690's than my old Ping ISI clubs and I can now produce a fade better than with the ISI's. Summary: Great Clubs which will make you a better player if your committed to playing/practicing at least 2-3 times a week.
Not for the one time a week player
Very good look and set up
I feel I can get through the long grass easier and hit these clubs about the same distance.
I highly recommend this club. Don't give up on them as you will learn to hit them well. |
