Tour Edge Review: Bazooka JMax QL Iron/Hybrid Combo Set Irons

Manufacturer: Tour Edge Golf

Details: Standard lie/loft, stiff steel shaft irons; grafite hybrids

Purchase: I purchased these clubs from Austads' Golf, payed $40 each for the steel shaft irons brand new (7-P) and bought 4 and 6 grafite shaft iron-wood hybrids each for about $25 used. The 6 is +1', so It hits more like a 5 distance and I choke down for a more traditional 6 distance. I don't need the 3 at this point because there's only a few degrees between it and my 5 wood.

Pros: Though this is very much a mixed-set, the important factors with these clubs make for very similar ball flights. The exagerrated low-back CG is very similar throughout. They got the 'super-game improvement' tag on the hot list, but I really was attrachted to the price (I checked out all the cheapies) as well as the performance. You can't put as decent swing on these and not launch the ball. The soles of the irons are almost gigantic, but they don't feel uncomfortable at all. I don't work the ball very much, but I have no problem hitting a little draw when I want too with the iron or hybrid. I just cannot say how pleased I am to find a very affordable, very nice iron set.

Cons: I'm still getting used to the factory velvet grip, only because I'm used to a wrap style.

Bazooka JMax QL Iron/Hybrid Combo Set Quality: Good overall quality. I wouldn't call them indestructable, but if you take care of your equipment they should be fine. If you buy brand new, there's a lifetime warranty. That's a nice feature.

Summary: Though I don't use a Tour Edge driver (I prefer Cobra) I now use their iron/hybrid set and it would take something very special to pry me away. I have test-driven a lot of clubs and for me, these are the best feeling AND least expensive, including the RAC OS. Like I said they're new to me this season, so I have some distances to figure out come spring, but my swing is right around 100 mph so as long as I'm focused on solid contact my distances are fine. I cannot wait to use these clubs on the course.

Tour Edge Bazooka JMax QL Iron/Hybrid Combo Set Rating: 5

Game: Been playing seriously for 4 years. Drive pretty well, used to have some trouble with approach shots - these irons are brand new so it'll take some time to dial in - chip and put well when I practice alot.
