MacGregor Review: V-Foil M5K Bobby Grace Putter

Manufacturer: MacGregor Golf

Model: V-Foil M5K Bobby Grace
Category: Putters

Additional Details:

Purchase: I purchased this off Ebay for $102.00. At this price I couldn't pass it up. I really liked the looks of this putter, and had tried it in stores before buying. Purchased the heel shafted model in 35".

Pros: This putter is so easy to line up properly each time. The long alignment line on the top is superior to the 2 ball (notice the new 2 balls have lines now also?) Beautifully made. The copper face insert is soft, yet it still emits a slight "click" at impact to give an auditory gauge as to how hard you've hit the ball. The weighting of this putter makes it so stable, you can actually stop at the top of your backswing and then complete your stroke and it will still be on line. Amazing! Nice stock Winn grip.

Cons: The headcover is a little cumbersome with 2 velcro flaps that must be secured, wish it was magnetic like the Ping Craz-e or new Rossa Monza covers. But big deal! I'll use it because I want to keep this beautiful piece looking pristine!

V-Foil M5K Bobby Grace Quality: Really the nicest putter I think I have seen to date, as nice or nicer than Camerons even. Does't have that "mass-produced" feel to it like the Odysseys (Don't get mad Odyssey lovers, I have two of them!) Top notch!

Review & Rating Summary:
This is the most stable putter I have ever used, my 2 Ball DFX included! I couldn't believe how easy it was to put a great stroke on the ball every time with this stick. The ball comes off the face pure every time with noticeable end-over-end "overspin" which drives it toward the hole. With my 2 ball, putts seem to lip out more often than not if they are on the edge. With the M5K, they tend to go in more often if they are on the lip. The "overspin" has everything to do with it. Great flatstick, best I have used to date, and I've tried a lot of 'em! Get one!
