Mizuno Review: TPM 9 Putter

Manufacturer: Mizuno Golf

Model: TPM 9
Category: Putters

Additional Details: Clean, traditionally looking putter, has a nonglare charcoal finish. My club came with a cord grip, but I have seen another with a Mizuno stamped wrap grip.

Purchase: Payed ~ $Au90 on eBay, including postage. I had previously looked at many websites and forums and this putter had good ratings on them.

Pros: The putter sits very well, and feels nicely balanced in play. There is a small oval on the top of the putter for alignment, which is very understated, but functional. The ball rolls truely off of the face and gives good feedback to the golfer as to whether they have struck to toe, centre or heel of the club. The nonglare charcoal finish is pleasing to the eyes, especially when in bright sunshine, as it gives no 'flare' as some chrome or polished putter do, so you are not distracted. The cord grip allows good contact between the golfer and the putter, and is excellent in wet weather.

Cons: So far have not found any problems with this putter.

TPM 9 Quality: As with most Mizuno clubs I have seen, the finish is excellent, I had the loft checked and it was as specified by Mizuno, and the finish after 3 years of use is very good, only a few bag marks on the shaft, and a few scratches on the sole from wear.

Review & Rating Summary:
An excellent 'traditional style' putter, very similar to the Scotty Cameron Newport in design, but at a third of the price, and with comparable qualities, is a bargain.
