Pros: I always liked the idea of the Doc 17 but the monsterous size was off putting. When I came across the Doc 15 it was right up my alley. It is not only smaller but in my opinion more pleasing to the eye. The center bar is solid on the top and hollowed out through the bottom creating a more solid appearance and feel. Also, the headcover is a very attractive lime green and black, much better than the 17. It is very hard to send the ball off line with this putter and the ball has a very nice end over end roll to it. The Doc 15 also has great feel, not a lot of effort is required to get the ball going resulting in more accurate putting. This monster still gets a lot of looks and comments on the course but instills a lot of confindence on the green. This Doc has a certain funky appeal that makes you smile whenever you look at its beautiful plated aluminum finish.

Cons: The head is still really big. You will get a lot of snickers and puzzled looks on the course, shut em up with this putter's plumber-like draining skills. The funky design is the putter's greatest appeal and also its greatest liability. It takes a while to get used to going straight back and through with such a large putter.

Doc 15 Quality: The construction is top-notch typical Ping quality. The shaft is not graduated but smooth, giving a very beautiful flowing look to the bends. The head is gorgeous! You can see the smooth milling marks underneath the gloss-like finish. It manages to be so simple and yet so complex, it will mesmerize you when setting up. The grip is the standard g2i winn version, which is fantastic, sticky with great feel.

Review & Rating Summary:
This putter will not be everyone's cup of tea. But, it is hard to not feel confident with almost 6" wide of milled, ping-engineered aluminum behind your ball. This is a hammer for long putts and a precision instrument from in close. The Doc 15 has cured me of my greenphobia, try out this prescription and have fun putting again!
