Pros: First of all, I know that the trouble with my putting lies with the puttee, and not the putter. I have some basic flaws in my stroke that have held me back from becoming a much better player. Having said that, I can say that the Doc 17 is the best putter I've used. Though it looks more like a snowshoe than putter, it does provide a stable, solid feel at contact time-after-time. Given its sheer bulk it is much more manueverable than it would appear. It especially has helped me on the drawback, where I have had a bad case of the wiggles.
Cons: I would admit the appearance is somewhat offputting, but I don't think any more so that those putters mounted on the end of pole vault poles. I have noticed that there are some small chips developing on the face of the putter, but that could have more to do with its previous owner. It also takes up more room in the bag than a traditionally sized putter
Doc 17 Quality: Construction seems to be fine, though I'm watching to see if the chipping on the face gets much worse. The cover with a magnetic clip does a good job protecting the club.
Review & Rating Summary: There are mechanical flaws in my stroke that no putter can correct. However, the putter that has come closes to masking these flaws is the Doc 17. I have made more longer putts with Doc than any of my five previous putter combined. It also has given me more confidence in making those 3-5 foot round makers/breakers. It also fared very well in a recent review done by Golf Magazine where they tested about 50 putters. If I'm not mistaken, it came out #2 on the list behind Nike's new Oz putter (which I also have, and can't make a thing with). The Doc won't make a bad putter a good one, but it will do just enough to keep you in most rounds.
