Walter Hagen Review: AWS 3 Hybrid Utility Club

Manufacturer: Walter Hagen Golf

Model: AWS 3 Hybrid
Category: Utility Clubs

Additional Details: AWS (Adjustable Weight System) w/tool, Fujikura graphite shaft (uniflex).

Purchase: Purchased at Dick's Sporting Goods for $80 new. I needed something to fill the gap between 4 iron and 3 wood. I was debating between a 5 wood or 3 hybrid and chose the latter.

Pros: The looks of this club are very appealing and is very easy to hit (195 - 210 yards). The Fujikura uniflex shaft is excellent and helps keep the ball in play no matter how hard or soft I swing. The AWS (Adjustable Weight System) believe it or not actually works for draw or fade but I have my club set to neutral. The AWS tool has a nice torque feature that prevents over tightening of the weights.

Cons: I havn't found anything I don't like about this club yet...

AWS 3 Hybrid Quality: Overall contruction is good. The only issue I've had with it are the gaskets/o-rings for the AWS (Adjustable Weight System). The unit I bought had some burrs around the threading for the heel weight which in turn shreds/breaks the gaskets. After spending a few minutes at the hardware store I managed to find comparable gaskets/o-rings in the plumbing department...you will need 2 different sizes (#5 for the head of the weight and #6 for right above the threading).

Review & Rating Summary:
Overall very happy with my purchase. Hopefully you won't have to deal with the gasket/o-ring issue, but once you have it set up the way you like it...leave it.

Walter Hagen AWS - Drivers - Bottom line, this driver/shaft combo cannot be beat by any driver at any price. The NV shaft is matched up so well with this head that the head really releases thru impact. I have found that I can ge
