History of the golfer who played this course:
I've played golf for approx. 10 years, play once a week or twice if I can sneak out of work. My handicap is 20-22. I'm straight off the tee and hit a bit further than the average woman, but struggle with the long fairway shots.

Specific likes about this course:
The challenge is that this is a modified links-style layout, with tight fairways and focus on accurate shot making. You don't need to be a long hitter to score well, but you do need to be good out of the sand! Wind can be a definite factor on this course, when it blows you could need 2 extra clubs for your shots. Pace of play is generally good, for a public course. Peak time on weekends you can still walk a round with a foursome in 4:15.

Dislikes about this course:
Course conditions tend to suffer more during dry spells, the grass on the fairways "browns out" pretty fast. The location of this course within the Mercer Oaks complex does not allow you to return to the club house at the turn, it is too far away. So you are stuck with buying whatever the cart girl brings, plus they only have a couple of porta-johns. The landscaping has not matured fully, the design has waste areas with tall wild grasses for the links look, but it really hasn't grown in well.

Is this course worth the fees?
A real bargain if you are a Mercer County resident, and a great value even if you aren't.

19th Hole: What extra amenities did this course offer?
There is a pub on site, they serve alcoholic beverages as well as food. Quality of food is very good, it is freshly prepared. They have hot and cold sandwiches/burgers, salads. There is a banquet room if you have a large group event, with on-site catering.

Summary and opinions of this golf course:
I recommend this course, it is a good value and a slightly different layout than the usual type you see in New Jersey.
