Specific likes about this course:
This is a pretty decent public course. The holes do not line up parallel to each other throughout the course like many public courses do to save space. The greens are usually in pretty decent shape and the fairways as well.
There are a couple farm silos on the course that you get to play around. The 18th hole has an elevated green that slopes front to back, making club selection very important.
Dislikes about this course:
The tee boxes have sometimes been pretty ragged and the fairways can sometimes get bare. The bunkers can be shallow at times.
Is this course worth the fees?
This is a pretty basic golf course without a lot of excitement but it does vary from the standard 'parallel' series of holes a lot of public/municiple courses have. Weekday specials can be found in local papers that make this more of a value. It's a decent course to play once or twice, not too challenging. But it probably wont be a staple on your play list.
19th Hole: What extra amenities did this course offer?
There is a grill which makes made-to-order sandwiches and sells snacks and drinks. burgers were pretty tasty.
Summary and opinions of this golf course:
This is a good last-minute course and one you can score well on. Not too much trouble though there is some water and rough areas. it's out of the city in the rural area, so it's a bit more rustic than some courses. Clubhouse is nice and has a decent sample of equipment for purchase. It's a course I would play once or twice a year but in general, I'd pay a few more dollars and head up the road to one of the better more upscale courses.
