History of the golfer who played this course:
Single digit handicapper; driving and short game are strengths of my game.
Specific likes about this course:
Great course, designed by the late Mike Strantz. This is a unique course built on a old sand quarry so there are lots of waste (sand) areas on the course, but no sand traps. Everything is played as a waste area where you can ground your club.
Things i like about this course include that they've gone away from the normal red, white, blue tee makers and put up 5 or 6 different tees all labeled by the recommended handicap of the golfer. So instead of going to the token blue tee makers, find the tee rated for your handicap and have fun.
The first hole doesn't start you out easy...a drive between two large mounds which are very much in play if you dont hit long and straight. But it's a Par 5.
The course features a lot of blind shots so make plans to play it twice.
Dislikes about this course:
Not much to not like actually. Maybe the driving range could be a little nicer but it serves the purpose. Putting greens are nice but there is no chipping green or bunker to practice in as I recall. But actually, there's no sand traps on the course. There all waste areas where you can ground your club.
Is this course worth the fees?
Definitely worth the money unless you come in high season. Play during the week to save a few more $$$. But it's a must play if you're in the area. This is a unique course and fun to play.
19th Hole: What extra amenities did this course offer?
The grill and bar are quite nice. The clubhouse is more like a lodge and there's room to sit and remember the days round while having a drink. Made to oder food is quite good. Try the BBQ sandwich!
Summary and opinions of this golf course:
Definitely a course to go play if you are in the area. Very fun, very unique. Actually, you should play it twice back to back because there are some blind shots that the first time around you wont be familiar with.
