This putter was given to me as a player in a charity golf tournament. It is inscribed with my name on the bottom and, unfortunately, with the tournament's sponsor (in big, bold letters) on the top. Musty Putters is a southern California specialty putter maker, who makes beautiful wood putters (Bill Murray uses one!). The putter I received is gorgeous, and I was reluctant to even try it on a putting green. However, much to my surprise, it does roll very true. It has a great big head, with two large sight lines on top, so lining up shots is easy. Musty's claim to fame is that they install a metal insert inside the putter head, to keep the center of gravity heigher, and therefore keeps the ball from "hopping" on initial contact. This, too, works very well in real life. With enough practice, this could be a very good, everyday putter. It's heavy! The big wood head, plus the metal insert, plus the large diameter shaft, make this a very heavy putter. It takes a while to get used to the weight of the club to obtain any kind of distance control. This putter has a beautiful wood head; I just wish the tournament's sponsor wasn't so prominently displayed on top. The shaft-to-head connection leaves something to be desired, as it is a simple grommet that constantly slips up the shaft.
The Musty Putter A.T.S. is admittedly a novelty, but it actually works quite well in real life. It's so beautiful, however, that you'll be reluctant to use it!

I think the Musty putter is a great looking and satisfying putter to use too. Keep up the good work!

Musty 'wing-tip' 34'. Cocobolo wood with maple inlay playing 28 years
Amature tour for 13 years.
Strengths - putting, short game
Weakness - driving 80's I was introduced to Musty Putters at the Boston, MA golf show in 2005. I've alway been a good putter and used Ping for years. My wife was clothes shopping (imagine that) so I drifted over the the Musty Putter station. They messured me and gave me a demo. I started sinking 8 - 10 foot putts automatically. I told them they had the practice area sloped to make them look good. He offered to allow me to take it over to an area where they would be having a putting contest later in the day. Same results...draining everything!! Damn now I have to buy a new putter!
Best purchase I've ever made, best putter I've ever tried. Each year I try out all the new putters to see if the technology is better than what I have. IT IS NOT. During tournaments rounds in 2010 I've had rounds of 21 and 23 putts. Enough said. The looks are beautiful and the alignment bars give great confidence. Being made of wood, it give great feedback to the hands for distance control, especially on fast greens (9.5 and above). Every putter is custom fitted to the user (length and lie angle). Absolutely nothing. The only way I'm giving up this putter is if someone prys it out of my dead hands. Construction/craftmanship is top notch. It always starts a conversation because it looks so good.
Can't say enough good things about this putter. My wife has one now and has cut 5 strokes off her game because of it. Well worth the money.
